if i could have one superpower but it couldn't be anything important, i would give myself the ability to say the phrase "a morbid fascination with the occult" better than any other living person

Hanging out in the cover art of an algebra textbook from 1992. There's a floating cone nearby and the ground and sky are both grids but different kinds of grids. Might party with the Vitruvian Man over there later

ME: *writing in my journal with the sole aim of pissing off future historians and archaeologists* I returned to my home - which is built in the usual style - by the normal way, and prepared and ate dinner in the way I often but not always do

I got to be friends with David Lynch when we were both at Universal years ago. A very kind man, he was a fan of Bob's Big Boy. So was I. I'm going to miss him. R.I.P. David.

i just want to say, in the strongest possible terms, that going back to older SFF and reading it is a really fucking good idea that everyone should do

there's so much really good readable stuff especially after ~1965-70, it deserves to be read and remembered, it adds so much richness to the genre
There are a bunch of writers who are still alive, I'm thinking of Tim Powers, who wrote amazing, important work and who have been forgotten. It happens. But it pays to go back in time and find out where certain ideas, certain innovations came from.

something that I just learned is that the Drifters' lead singer died the day before they recorded Under The Boardwalk. and instead of canceling the recording session, they just switched to a different singer

so, that's wild. also, how the fuck are people not talking about that constantly
"Under the Boardwalk" by the Drifters is such a beautiful, romantic song about having sex in a filthy, crowded public location
