Dublin City residents without secure bicycle parking can now register for BikeBunkers
BikeBunkers, a service providing secure bicycle parking for Dublin City residents who lack access to secure bicycle storage, is now open to expressions of interest from the public, with the first units expected to be installed in December. BikeBunkers are on-street lockers provided in areas, such as those with terraced houses or apartments, where there is no access to bicycle storage.

If you don't let your children play onstreet near your home, why not? #PlayStreetsBETA

For example: large vehicles (eg trucks), vehicle speeds and frequency, vehicle predictability (eg near corner/bend), lack of space (eg vehicles parked), cleanliness of street, particular risks (eg nearby water)?

Bike bunkers! One of my most common requests in inner city areas. Well, they're finally here. The contract has been signed and they're taking requests now. I'm off to apply for one!

@paris.fr @davidbelliard.bsky.social Bonjour!

Serait-il possible d’obtenir plus d’informations sur ces barrières?

Par exemple, un plan technique (afin que nous puissions en tester un), ou bien existe-t-il un fabricant particulier utilisé par la Ville de Paris que nous pourrions contacter?
A video of how the swing gates work in Paris.

There is a slide pin on the hinge side of the gate which slides in and out with minimal effort.

When the pin is in, it prevents the gate from swinging open.

The pin can't be removed out of the gate, to avoid loss of the slide bolt.

The #CooktopBETA trial will be removed from Herbert Park next month in November. If you would like to check it out before it's removed, now's the time!

We will then begin the assessment and decide next steps. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please let us know! Here or beta@dublincity.ie

Very cool. I’ll take a look when next in Dublin.

I’d like to see this in Birmingham.

It’d be handy for runs to the dump, enable train station pick ups with folding bikes for visitors, and end the long-standing debate over whether we have room in the store for a cargo bike. (And so much more.)

This year is 10 years of 'Dublin Canvas' (an initiative which arose out of the first BETA Project) and ~1,000 artworks competed! 🙌

It would be lovely to celebrate that in some way, with a strong focus on the participants.

All suggestions would be very welcome!

Dublin today held 25 play streets, opening up those streets to local children and their parents for 3 hours (to mark 25 years of #CarFreeDay).

Managing to visit 11 of the 25 within the 3 hours, it was useful to see how each space was used and gather various learnings for upcoming #PlayStreetsBETA.

-- The Bunkers fit 6 bicycles in one car parking space, but the spaces are reserved for subscribers who get keys to the lockers. Bleeper, the company best known for its bicycle share service, has been appointed to roll out secure on-street 'Bike Bunkers' lockers in the Dublin City Council area. Dublin City Council issued a tender for the delivery of up to 300 'Bike Bunkers' branded lockers across the city to provide secure parking for people living in terraced houses or other homes, such as apartments, which do not have easy access to sheds.
