Mead School District will continue to have a conservative majority, unfortunately:
Tim Woodworth: 57.0%
Martin Kolodrub: 42.3%
Kolodrub was more moderate and had committed to following Washington State law on things like trans kids in sports. Woodworth thinks they can flout the law.

A fantastic investigation showing that the unit run by Greg Bovino, the Border Patrol agent in charge of racial profiling in LA and Chicago, is an outlier even in an agency already notorious for unnecessary use of force. Obama and Biden could have fired him, but didn't.

The Supreme Court did grant review of one case today, Watson v. Republican National Committee, and it's a big one over state laws allowing the counting of ballots cast by Election Day but received after Election Day.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

I was wondering this week whether the airlines were lobbying behind the scenes.
SHUTDOWN TAKEAWAY: send home as many federal employees as you want, cut off people's food stamps, let health care system career towards a cliff, but don't mess with air travel, especially with holidays looming.

I think this is true. Democrats previously had the ability to say that voting for them delivered the lesser of two evils. I've long believed that was true. But I was a chump.
My senator, Adam Schiff, keeps voting for Trump's nominees. I voted for Schiff. And yet he keeps voting for Trump's agenda.

I'd argue it's even worse than 2024. In 2024 we had the promise that they'd fight Republicans. Now that we see what they're really made of (jelly) no one has any reason to vote for them.
I’m already seeing people insist that even with this capitulation the Democrats will still sweep 2026 because Trump is that bad. It was precisely that attitude that gave us 2024.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

i obviously support the “primary them all” school of thought but, for the record, it’s going to require a more than that to *get* to the next primary for these people—who i assume took a hit for 2026 cycle dems anyways.
primary them, yes, but these people really shouldn’t be able to eat in public.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.
