It took a month before I heard “So you’re trans? Can I ask you a personal question?” Poor guy, I blurt laughed in his face. I have done like seven or eight open mics in Pittsburgh and this was the FIRST time! (It was even the 201 level question of “and also a lesbian? That’s possible? 😮”)

Oh, hi. I moved to Pittsburgh. There's no internet at my house and no socials on my phone, so I hadn’t even thought about telling people I made it okay. It’s been amazing. I’ve been here two weeks and I’ve already gone and done more queer things than I would in year back in Nevada. My new home <3

I’ve been thinking about this all day. It feels like last year was my “enough is enough,” and that’s why I’m uprooting my whole life, but I should draw a new line. When do I reevaluate? If my id’s are all stricken, I think. That’s when I should think about if this place is getting too hot.

No one wants to be smug about being right on this shit, but also it feels maddening to constantly be warning people, ignored, and then seeing the thing you warned people about happen.
