Random Q - with #Skype shutting down, I will mean many developing country migrants/families(me) cannot call landlines / mobiles in many countries. Does anyone know a good alternative #VoIP credit based calling systems to replace Skype?? (Teams and Zoom have options I think, but expensive)

Scientists, academics, researchers: We’re excited to share that @altmetric.com is now tracking mentions of your research on Bluesky! 🧪
There are already many articles for which there is more attention on Bluesky than on other comparable micro-blogging sites, meaning the academic community and the general public have clearly adopted Bluesky as one of its core places to disseminate and discuss new research.

A Place of Joy.

I think BlueSky will be significantly better for conferences than any other site. Organisers can create speaker starter packs to allow attendees to auto-follow all speakers. Also a custom feed of all folks skeeting abut a conf would be a big win.
Advocating that tech conferences start including Bluesky accounts on profile pages and badges is already working!
I need to add it to the code for the devopsdays website! I’ll do it today :)

Gardening season here in southeastern Australia (Ngunnawal country). Working on my veggie patch using 12 month old home compost and seaweed mix. Grateful for all farmers doing the hard labour in our food systems - growing food is intense work.

Agree. This has been a boring place for a long time, suddenly getting traction. @bsky.app must somehow be protected from the chaos, advertising and abuse that all other platforms are host to.
Can’t get over how quickly Bluesky is growing. I’ve been on here for a few months but number of followers has increased 10x in about a week! 😀

‘A place of joy’: why scientists are joining the rush to Bluesky
Researchers say the social-media platform — an alternative to X — offers more control over the content they see and the people they engage with.

It seems Melon Husk has failed to separate researchers from one of their abiding joys: gentle critique of government funding bodies.
