Rand Paul tells me that he wants the full video of the Venezuelan boat strike released.

“And I think if the public sees images of people clinging to boat debris and being blown up, I think that there is a chance that finally, the public will get interested enough in this to stop this.”

my “AI is over” anecdote is that my wife was hired over the summer to write scripts for a big tech company explaining how to use their AI tools and after many rounds of revisions, the latest notes said “we’re finding a lot of AI fatigue among our users” and to remove all references to AI
Anecdotally on twitter seeing a big shift the last few days from every AI slop account saying every other creative field is “over” and they’re in control now to now posting about how nobody likes them and it’s not fair and they’ll persevere and real artists respect and uplift eachother

Picture how big the Hoover Dam is. An absolute unit. The Hoover Dam has a power capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW).

The solar farm that the Admin just cancelled could have produces 6.2 GW of power. That's more than 3 Hoover Dams.
SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency

Esmeralda 7 Solar Project Has Been Canceled, BLM Says
It would have delivered a gargantuan 6.2 gigawatts of power.

Years before Hitler invaded the USSR, Nazi agents planted fake disloyalty rumors about Stalin’s top generals on Vienna phone lines they knew Soviets had tapped. They convinced Stalin to purge & shoot his own best generals before the outbreak of war. Imagine Putin’s FSB planting gossip today…🤔
New, from me: Trump and his Secretary of Defense are proposing a purge of military officers. To understand what this means, I talked to military experts and looked at Trump's accusations of "woke Generals."

Bottom line: The purge represents a huge democratic risk.🧵

Vaclav Havel wrote about the importance of pointing out the law in a totalitarian society - it may not help in a situation where the government makes and enacts laws willy-nilly, but calling it out keeps the insanity of it all in the open for all to see.

Recent research found that traffic stops by police in Hillsborough County, Florida reduced voter turnout in 2014, 2016, and 2018 federal elections.
A Police Stop Is Enough to Make Someone Less Likely to Vote
New research shows how the communities that are most heavily policed are pushed away from politics and from having a say in changing policy.

The white nationalist ambitions of this regime are just plain as day. Anyone from that world would recognize these images or the Manifest Destiny references employed by DHS as a call to genocide in service of a white nation.
DHS is recruiting using a not-so-subtle reference to a 1978 book from white nationalist William Gayley Simpson, Which Way Western Man?

Simpson's book was released under an imprint associated with the National Alliance, founded by Turner Diaries author William Luther Pierce.

Do they think they’re pirates? How long until they start the rape part of rape and pillage? Our military is charged with crimes if they do this to civilians abroad, so what about at home? www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/n...

First, this is why the corruption of the court has been allowed to stand without public pushback: the “liberals” are as vested in their aristocratic fantasy as the conservatives

Second: these offices all belong to us and we can change the terms whenever we like. They’re servants, not masters.
Justice Sotomayor suggests—implausibly—that justices somehow have a vested property interest in their office. Yet another reason why relying on judges to be reformers is an absolute disaster.

This is our satellite. Bought and paid for with taxpayer dollars, appropriated for this specific mission by the elected Congress. Those who would destroy it on purpose are our enemies.
Head of NASA Sean Duffy intends to destroy a satellite that collects key data on carbon dioxide and plant health, by causing it to burn up in the atmosphere. The U.S. Dept of Agriculture and private agriculture firms use the data to forecast crop yield, drought conditions and more.
Why a NASA satellite that scientists and farmers rely on may be destroyed on purpose
The Trump administration has asked NASA staffers to draw up plans to end at least two satellite missions that measure carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, according to current and former NASA employees.
