This is an opportunity for the government to clear out all the other Tories and restore the BBC as a public service broadcaster, not the TV version of the Daily Mail. I’m pretty sure spineless Starmer will fluff it, though.

Putin won’t denuclearise, so any responsible defence policy has to take account of that reality and the need to deter nuclear use by Putin, on which Zack Polanski has nothing to say.
Zack Polanski: "I want to see everyone denuclearise, including Vladimir Putin."

So sick of the “they go low, we go high” cringe. It’s a loser’s refrain and no one respects it. Much more of this is what we need.

Not sure what’s more disturbing. The idea that he would makes this up or the possibility that he actually believes it. Either way, the power he wields is a serious threat to this country and should be dealt with accordingly.
Elon Musk, "These lovely small towns in England, Scotland and Ireland, they've been living their lives quietly. They're like hobbits"

"And so one day, 1,000 people show up in your village of 500 and start raping the kids"

"This has now happened, God knows how many times in Britain"

The hard left will never win power in this country for the simple reason that they can’t be trusted on national security. Objectively, they always end up on the same side as scumbags like Putin.

“Just like Trump” is a boast that will not age well. By the time of the next UK general election, we will have witnessed four years of chaos in the US and Farage will be desperate to deny the comparison.

These players will leave because selling players for profit and using analytics to replace them is the business model the allows Hearts to compete. But they will join bigger clubs than Rangers or Celtic. Why join a pair of dinosaurs whose only business model is monetising sectarianism?

Hearts played “direct football”? What’s he on about? They used a Celtic player to score their first goal. It doesn’t get more indirect than that.
🗣️ "Hearts is totally different. It’s a different DNA here. The ball is direct, the supporters love that, it’s a second ball fight, it's set-pieces.

"Celtic hasn’t become winners that way."

Brendan Rodgers says Hearts have a "big advantage" in that they only play once a week.

He also made comment about Hearts' DNA and that Celtic didn't become winners playing that way.

The Government is set to add denial of a fair trial to the list of human rights violations that will eventually result in a humiliating and politically damaging loss before the European Court of Human Rights. If they had any sense, they’d look for an off ramp.

I think most of us on Bluesky know that the range of opinion here is quite limited. The problem is that those still on Twitter confuse it with the real world when, in fact, it’s even more of an echo chamber, propelled largely by bots and others kinds of fakery.
And every comment below is a blue tick demanding even more people are deported. Hardly surprising that politicians spending all there time on X think this stuff is popular.
Dan has got it.

The decision to ban Maccabi Tel Aviv fans was based on Dutch police reports detailing their violent, racist behaviour in Amsterdam last year. Keir Starmer now owes a grovelling apology to those he dishonestly smeared as anti-semites for supporting the ban and putting the UK’s interests first.
Intelligence on ‘extreme’ Maccabi fans with history of violence led to Villa Park ban
Intelligence on ‘extreme’ Maccabi fans with history of violence led to Villa Park ban
Exclusive: West Midlands police were told supporters randomly attacked Muslims in Amsterdam last year Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters were banned from watching their game against Aston Villa after police intelligence concluded the biggest risk of violence came from extremist fans of the Israeli club. The ban ignited an intense controversy and was criticised by the prime minister, as well as others claiming it was a surrender to antisemitism. Scores of extreme Maccabi fans with a past history of violence and shouting “racist taunts” were expected to travel to the Birmingham game. Dutch police told their British counterparts that the Maccabi fans had instigated trouble in Amsterdam at a game last year. They had randomly picked Muslims in Amsterdam to attack. That led to reprisal violence with some Dutch Jews attacked. A huge Dutch police effort, involving 5,000 officers across three days, was needed to quell the trouble. A community impact assessment by West Midlands police recorded that some Jewish people wanted the Maccabi fans banned because of the trouble that might ensue if they attended. Any trouble started by Maccabi fans attending the Birmingham game could lead to reprisals from local people and further trouble. The process did not consider whether the ban on fans of the Israeli club could be criticised as antisemitic itself or surrendering to antisemitism. Continue reading...

The statement by the Government here is utterly disgraceful. The people it accuses of extremism and divisiveness are not hooligans chanting “death to Arabs”, but those who wanted to keep them off our streets. It’s a complete reversal of any reasonable moral standard. Labour is lost.
