A writer who can’t stop chronicling daily life. I preserve my rights & wrongs, an example of what my specific life looked like in the world in the 2010s, 2020s.
Also a jazz singer with no band who absolutely destroys any wrong notes preserved
Pinned
Me with a grand portion of my diaries, endless writing. It does trap me in other people’s lives, but it allows me to be wrong, to preserve it and acknowledge it. If you like writing I beg of you to give yourself this safe space

Once we gathered under the midnight sky
And around the fire told stories of
our ancestors and animal spirits
As the sparks flew upwards
the stars did not seem
So far away

Now we gather alone
in front of electric screens
But, if we listen carefully we can
Still feel the warmth

My most-viral post ever:

“Book historian who tells students constantly that if they listen to the audiobook, they are literally reading 18th century novels the way the large chunk of the original audience experienced the book. Silent, solitary reading by eye alone is so so recent!”

Optimist: The cup is half full

Pessimist: The cup is half empty

Writer: …did I have a plan for this cup? Was it supposed to link to some other part of the plot? Crap. I really don’t want to go through and take every mention of the cup out. Maybe I can kill someone with it.

Pessimist: The cup is half empty

Agent: The cup isn’t a good fit for my list

Editor: The cup feels unearned

I swear every time I open a PDF, Adobe defaults to a bigger size. 170%, 248%. One day, I’m going to open one, and it will ask me to step outside to view it. My PDF will tower over my apartment building, touching the clouds. And I’ll notice a mistake in it.

When I was a child one of my greatest joys was getting the Puffin Post magazine 🥰

I’ve just discovered there are adult literary & writing magazines 😅 I’ve got the New York Review, do you peeps recommend any others?

Grateful any time there's a new movie sequel coming out with "2" in the title because I get to say "Electric Boogaloo" a lot more than usual.

(It's like "and also with you" but you say it after the number 2.)

A predictable series of events 😮‍💨 it’s horrifying that I’m more appalled by the belittling of my mental disease because I can be pretty (and we all know telling that would be incendiary because «its a compliment ») than the sexualisation.
I’ve gotten desensitized and have to remind myself its not ok

Looking out

(Should probs explain, I have heterochromia which means different colored eyes, but you can also tell kids it’s because you got stabbed with brown mascara and that’s often far more interesting than a genetic mutation😂)

The only good use of AI was fictional; DeepThought taking an eternity to respond that the answer of life was 42 in Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. 42 being the ACII nomination for *, which translates to « anything you want it to be ».

Mistakes happen! If you forget to insert that one sentence in a paragraph the solution is easy. Just draw a dude in a hood and he will pull the missing text to the right place with a piece of rope!

I have to ask this of people who read a lot; has the anti hero redeemable villain plot became one of your toxic traits where you seek to understand bad people and forgive them because everyone is motivated by past events? 💙📚

I’m told repeatedly to stop overthinking but it seems you all do it too and I’m very glad to have found my people 💙📚
