It's great Dem leaders are condemning the shooting.

What I would also like to hear from them is strong condemnation of all these calls of violence, and especially from Democratic governors, mayors, etc., that they will use all their powers against any action that may stem therefrom.

We have the near-final margin in Virginia's special election:

Democrat James Walkinshaw has won by roughly 50%.

This is a district that Harris carried over Trump by 34% last year, and Gerald Connolly won it by the same margin then.

Why are so-called progressives up in arms about RFK. Jr., who I do not support, removing the head of the CDC yet said nothing when shitlib Phil Griffin removed me from the regular rotation on M$DNC?

Group A: willing to vote to end democracy & a lot of other things that's good for the population as a whole.

Group B: tries to protect democracy & the population as a whole.

Group B has tried for years to be reasonable only for Group A to double down.

It's ok to no longer associate with Group A.

Texan here. I will not vote for any candidate from a party that thinks it is their right to choose their voters instead of the voters choosing their representatives. So straight blue until the map changes. Sorry @GOP

It never happens with GOP, but too damn often in our party folks try to build themselves up by tearing Dems down.

You can demand better from us without pissing all over the house we’ve built together.

I’m sick of it. If you make a name for yourself by trashing the party, I’m calling you out.

Republicans are trying to redraw congressional district lines to keep their grip on Congress in the midterms and beyond.

Voters should pick their politicians, not the other way around.

If you can keep fighting and escalating forever, you will win, or at least drag them down in the process.

The vital currency in all modern political disputes is the public's attention. The more you escalate a conflict, the more attention you get, and if you're in the superior, more defensible position - which may not be the most POPULAR position, at the outset - fighting it out wins people to your side.

The other thing is that if you have the morally, logically correct position in a conflict - or are simply standing up for a popular institution or a stable status quo - you should WANT to fight, as long as possible, in as large a public forum as possible, because that's how you persuade people.

Forcing them to fight for every inch - and escalating every conflict to the utmost - spends their time, their legal resources, and makes each subsequent battle RISKIER for them rather than SAFER, as you’re constantly testing public acquiescence and you never know when popular opposition might emerge

So much of their power flows from the way people quietly bow out of their way, forcing them to expend essentially no political capital to shred vital and popular institutions. And then, having done so, they look even stronger, and it’s even easier next time.

Monarez is playing her weak hand perfectly, and should be a model for institutional resistance for the next four years:
1. Make them fire you
2. Don’t go along to get along
3. Don’t apologize, have confidence in your own integrity and the importance of your role
4. Always escalate the conflict

Think I'll just go offline for a few days and watch cartoons instead. Maybe take Friday off and spend the weekend up in the mountains.
