a fantasy map depicting a hell. from the top to the bottom: there's a submarine city of strange towers and glass domes connected to a giant computer in the midst of reefs. a river and a lake goes south from this city in the midst of some ruins, ending on a big dam from where a timid river flows through a desert canyon. beyond the desert, there's another stretch of sea separating it from another city at the end of the map. there are planets hovering above this landscape: the remains of mars and a primeval earth covered in lava, fumes, guns and forts.

PASSAGE: THE AVATAR (1988)
Acrylic on Canvas - 48" x 48"

Initially inspired by a few notes from a Pink Floyd instrumental track, this came to me while floating in a sensory deprivation tank. 1/4
Three classical arches stand tall against a calm cerulean sky at twilight. Transparent spheres, each containing a flicker of flame, float among the pillars of a ruined yet still beautiful structure. Steps lead up from the sand to a broad pedestal set at the center of the arches. Above it a star hangs low on the horizon. In the immediate foreground, a path of stones winds across a shallow tidal pool. Water reflects the vertical lines of the pillars.

FIVE OF PENTACLES #tarot -watercolor and ink on paper 69th tarot from the 78 card square-o tarot deck i made 5 years ago for my 20202020 ( @floatingworld.bsky.social ) daily drawing book where all cards first appeared in https://floatingworldcomics.com/shop/art-books/20202020-by-farel-dalrymple Based off the old Pamela Colman Smith card: Two beggars under poverty, one of them in crutches, walk through the snow. Above them is a mosaic of pentacles. Divination usage The card foretells material trouble above all, whether in the form illustrated—that is, destitution—or otherwise. For some cartomancists, it is a card of love and lovers—wife, husband, friend, mistress; also concordance, affinities. These alternatives cannot be harmonized. Reversed: Disorder, chaos, ruin, discord, profligacy.

Found these old friends. Always thought these were ok. The aim was always to stop doing black and white art, but in getting there there was a phase where I’d done a lot of it and had a handle on it to some degree. From the Dragon Warriors RPG line as republished by Magnum Opus Press 2008ish.
