Something I wasn’t prepared for is how much *audacity* it takes to be an author—or even an artist—in publishing. You gotta be ready to pitch yourself to anyone at any time, arrange & set up your own events, build your own hype, all while burying your insecurities. It’s a shockingly extroverted job.

So much of this comic is driven by tapping into moments as a kid. Not so much out of nostalgia, but out of an effort to reconnect with freedom of imagination and play.

Hot tip when looking for comics collaborators, PLEASE 🙏introduce yourself in your first email. Mention what you've made before, or share your socials if you're active. It's one of the only ways artists can separate true indies from scammers.

I had a dream that I got stabbed in my drawing hand and I was mortified. But, then, the more I thought about it, the more I found myself relieved that I didn’t have to make comics anymore. That can’t be a good sign…
