With the new S.H.I.E.L.D. omnibus out, here’s a Night Machine sketch. I still remember how to draw him.

S’il se perd un peu sur la fin, 1949 est mix réussi de polar façon années 40-50 et de thriller futuriste dont l’impeccable partie graphique de Dustin Weaver mérite à elle seule le détour ! #comics

Success is anytime I make something I'm happy with or when I manage to pull something off I've never done before. This is, at once, a low bar & an ever rising high bar.
I love when someone seems to like something I've done, but does it count as a success?
Success to me has fuck all to do with money.
Comic creators, what is success for you?

For me, it's having built an audience that empowers me to tell a long-form story. By January we'll have completed the equivalent of 35 DM issues of the White Ash Saga. Not many indie series reach those #'s. And we're just getting started.
We're not alone...

Once upon a time, comics fought to become a medium for grown-ups. That battle was thoroughly lost. Now we're left to wander the YA wastelands.

In the 60's the Marvel universe was created. 30 years later, the Image universe and Legend imprint were created. 30 years later, seven more Batmen were created.

I heard an animator once point out how artists who work in animation, but then make a move into comics, are more successful than artists going from comics into animation. He took this as evidence that animation was the better medium, which is a weird conclusion.

Struzan's stuff is like magic. He could put just layers of life into his work. I had a phase where I obsessed over Struzan. I think about his work often.

Listening to podcasts from 2010 is kind of weird. Even for something like a movie podcast. I can't stop thinking about what these podcasters haven't experienced yet and how their feelings will change.
