And so it begins…

You can’t appease these people. They only respond to decisive limits. Don’t implement them and they’ll take the piss.

We are already in a democratic recession.

Labour’s inaction won’t just screw them, it’ll screw us all. Our elections will be bought.

Delighted this feature I did with @inews.co.uk is now online – telling the story of 2024 in 14 charts. It's a whole range of topics, some UK and some internationally – and we did also work to make sure they weren't all gloomy. Do take a look.

Probably just as important as growing economic inequality is the degradation of news by Big Tech, and the loss of a common accepted reality amid the massive growth (often foreign inspired) of 'alternative facts' and conspiracy theory networks
True but there’s structural problems in media ownership, social media and accountability and funding of politics. The billionaire oligarch class outspend everyone with no consequence for integrity. Right wing commentators can become wealthy by pushing absolute bullshit approved by media owners

Kemi Badenoch's condemnation of Keir Starmer for appointing a politician with a previous criminal conviction, would have been more credible if she hadn't just dismissed the criticism of her own predecessor, for receiving a conviction while in office, as being "overblown"

Unhappy: 60%
Happy: 16%

They then asked them to say why, in their own words, they felt this way.

Leading "unhappy" reason: He's a criminal
Leading "happy" reason: He's not Harris/Biden/Democrats

The Brexit Curse

British food exports to EU ‘have fallen £3bn a year since Brexit’.

Border checks, lower standards on pesticides, veterinary drugs, animal welfare make UK exports harder.

Brexit costing UK economy about £100bn a year.

Rejoin EU.

GMC had the same view in 2014 as the UK ‘Independent’ Regulator of Doctors

However it was ‘persuaded’ by UK Govts not long after Charlie Massey joined in 2016 🤔

So it turns out they spent £715 million on sending a grand total of FOUR volunteers to Rwanda.

For comparison, this is more than you could expect to spend on building an entire brand new hospital in the UK
In July, I FOI'd the Home Office for the full breakdown of spending on the Rwanda scheme

I was refused because the government planned to publish the data in future, and today is the day. These numbers are in millions
