That’s $240,000 annually.

What we pay grad students and postdocs is criminal and even more so if this is the market rate for fake ass PhDs.

I prefer to mentor humans that go out into the world and do good.

Newly funded NIH grants = new job offers. Renewed grants = jobs retained. Musk has paralyzed NIH funding. NIA council recommends funding for grants, meets 3x/year. The January meeting was cancelled and has not been rescheduled. Red state people please call, email your reps/senators.

The CSR comm I'm on just pulled all Diversity F grants from the current review cycle. These apps are reviewed alongside (and by the same criteria) as all other F grants. So, instead of helping these trainees, they will actually be punished by having their grant reviews delayed at least 1 cycle !?!?

More unsolicited advice. Don’t tell your trainees not to worry and to just focus on their work. 1) you’re invalidating their very rational fears; 2) our institutions are NOT defending them; 3) you’re telling them “my data is more important than your future.”

Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania has indirect rate of 70%, but they probably didn’t want to list that atop Harvard because defunding a children’s hospital might be perceived as problematic.

This is devastating
These overhead rates are negotiated. Lowering it unilaterally to 15% is another way to destroy science in the US. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Most immigrants Trump targets have been here 10+ years, paying taxes, raising families, contributing to our communities.

Mass deportation would devastate our economy and tear apart the social fabric of America.
