We need to avoid false hope & look to realistic hopes associated w action to take back democracy. All the "last gasp of a dying era" & "T is panicking" or "was destroyed by ____" is stuff we've heard for the past 10 years. But T admin is still causing a lot of harm & no 1 is stopping them yet.

January 6 was like a much dumber version of Hitler’s Beer Hall Putsch and yet a plurality of American voters were like, Yeah, let’s give that guy the nuke codes again. An absolutely world historical debacle of societal ignorance. I’ll never understand it.

Everyone wants to make “sense” of things, but we are all currently hostage to an irrationalist epistemic environment. You might as well just read the entrails of a slaughtered goat to divine where events are headed.

By Removing Bassett, Harvard Chan Is Abandoning Its Mission | Opinion | The Harvard Crimson
To remove Bassett and “focus” FXB on children’s health suggests a chilling reversal: Harvard has moved from naming structural inequities to disciplining anyone who insists on exposing them.

The last thing our veterans need is FEWER people making sure they get the health care they need.

This is a grossly short-sighted decision by Secretary Collins. We need answers and accountability.
VA plans to abruptly eliminate tens of thousands of health care jobs
Strains on the Veterans Affairs system could grow with the elimination of as many as 35,000 mostly unfilled health care positions, including doctors and nurses.

Especially since many other billionaires & 100 millionaires, if not publicly supporting Trump, have been content to quietly sit to the side and reap the benefits of his actions. Silence is collusion at this point.

To put some numbers on @gelliottmorris.com’s point: WelcomePAC raised $11.3M, mostly from hedge funds and billionaires, including large donations from the Waltons and Murdochs (yes, the owners of Fox News). Perhaps not the most disinterested source of guidance.

Look, every single “deal” reached by a university with the Trump administration is a moral stain that will be seen with deep embarrassment once we’re through this. But for Northwestern to do this now, when the administration is visibly weakened, is even more shameful and inexcusable.

The legal, media, and academic institutions capitulating to an authoritarian ordering payments for favorable treatment are damning themselves to irrelevance. They are destroying their institutions. They will be — and should be — shunned for failing in their most basic purposes for existing.

A *huge* vaccine victory. I've been writing on this for years; Australia has seen remarkable progress in cervical cancer prevention with the HPV vaccine. I love seeing science triumph like this.
Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!
newsGP - Australia set for world-first cervical cancer elimination
Vaccination programs have played a key role, and GPs remain ‘instrumental’ in boosting screening rates to reach the 2035 target.
