Severance should be studied as a master class in storytelling. So much show don't tell, so much waiting until the right moment to reveal certain information, beautiful shit. It has none of the grandiose exposition dumps that sci fi usually has. 10/10

Finally got around to watching Severance. Though it's not traditional horror, it's definitely horror. The photography and aesthetics are off putting in a way that stays with you for days after watching it. The whole show fucks with you subtlety.

I know “procedural generation” is a fancy concept to people who’ve never made a game before but I can’t imagine dropping tens of millions of dollars to “train AI” to poorly emulate something that a $50 Unity plugin has been doing for the past decade.

God bless Gaia.

One of the things I look for when hiring at Mischief is the things you do that aren't games.

I expect media literacy when it comes to games--not just the basic canon, but the surprising things you've discovered and tried that I haven't--but I need to know that you're a well-rounded person.

Make art that you think is fuckin sick as hell. Make the shit you never thought you could that you always wanted to see. Beat your insecurity to death and fight to become your own favorite artist.

Games UX Research Tip:

1. Record the gameplay
2. Record inputs to the video
3. Record time to the video
4. Make sure your note taking includes time stamps to match with the time on the video.
