To be effective, protest must be noisy, obstructive, annoying. No longer is this allowed. Now the last attribute of effective dissent – persistence – is also to be banned. But the moment protest ceases to be effective is the moment democracy dies. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Here’s what you need to know about Starmer’s illiberal protest curbs: they would have killed the Labour party at birth | George Monbiot
The rights we enjoy in the UK, and the movement the PM purports to lead, were built on protest. Those rights are in dire peril, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Good piece by George Monbiot in the Guardian about how the Labour government are traitors to their own movement, which was born out of protest www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I've been saying this for two weeks!

AOC: Trump is weaker than he looks. They double down in public to overcompensate for it. They rely on the 'perception' of strength. They rely on the 'perception' of inevitability.

They want you to give up!

We can't give up. We have to be their consequence."

We might have lost our court case, but the papers arising from it, analysed by the brilliant Tess Colley, are a goldmine of information about the disgraceful way in which farmers have been misled by the water companies and ministers have failed to act.

He's right.
But also: this was exactly how some of us warned the Terrorism Act 2000 would be used when it was passed, by the government in which Peter Hain was a minister. He and all the others either ignored or dismissed our warnings. It's very frustrating.

My research into Nanny Morgan has been one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done. Ann Morgan's story highlights the importance of honouring historical legacies in folkloric narratives. She deserves to be remembered.

The Court of Appeal has ruled that anti-protest laws which completely ignored the will of Parliament are UNLAWFUL

Will the Government now do the right thing & scrap these unlawful regulations? They opposed them in opposition so this should be a no brainer

This is *really* important: the reason electricity prices are high is the high cost of gas & that market rate is set by gas prices. One of the loudest calls at Everything Electric last week was to decouple from gas prices, so we benefit from cheaper renewables.

Btw I did once meet a man in Manitou Springs in Colorado who bumped into Big Foot whilst he was taking the trash out at the back of his café. He really didn't want to talk about it at first as the whole town just took the piss out of him constantly for once mentioning it.
