New strategy: every progressive needs to pick up a conservative-coded hobby/interest.

I’ve picked NASCAR.
Trump is a lame duck and people have realized it. That’s actually a really important step!

I did my own poll/survey in April- and the partisan relationship on these two questions that I found then came out to be absolutely true.

For roughly every R that supported Q2, there was a D that supported Q1.

But anti-Trump sentiment gave Ds the turnout juice they needed.

I'm fascinated by how closely these results on ostensibly non-partisan ballot question are essentially mirror images of each other. Sadly, I don't think we have any exit polls, but it seems there was very little ticket-splitting on these votes. #mepolitics

I knew this was a garbage poll when I read it, but it did give me heartburn.

State-level polling is more difficult (and expensive) than ever, and very few pollsters can/will invest enough to do it right.

Let's remember this over the next year as national attention on us turns up! #mepolitics
A lot of issues with this poll. The sample, timeframe, weighting, I all take issue with. But it is probably the only public poll we will get for a while.

Key takeaway: for the next 10 or so days focus on getting out the vote for No on 1 and Yes on 2.

We can resume #MESen talk later. #mepolitics
New poll: UNH finds that November’s ballot measure in Maine that would greatly restrict mail voting, and impose voter ID, is *very* tight.

It’s 49% no, 48% yes. scholars.unh.edu/survey_cente...

One of the most suspenseful elections on November 4.

My commitment to this bit has only grown. I went to Martinsville this year and already have my tickets for Bowman Gray and London in 2026.

Celebrate.
Think about how nice it feels to win.
Wake up tomorrow determined to feel this way again in November 2026.
The work begins now!

Working for yes on 2 was such an interesting experience with the quirkiness of #mepolitics, and I’m so happy to see this cross the finish line with a victory. We will be safer for it!

Vote Yes on 2. Red flag laws save lives.

I will be at Martinsville this weekend witnessing the true meaning of freedom- which is apparently just cheap hot dogs but I’m all for it

With Governor Mills entering the US Senate Democratic Primary, Maine has become a battleground between the corporate-friendly establishment and insurgent progressive grassroots movement. My latest substack:

A note on Mills/age and the "But Angus is older!" point.

Re-electing an incumbent for a third term in their 80s is simply not the same as electing a new JUNIOR senator to serve their first term in their 80s.

King + Collins have seniority in a chamber that requires it to do anything. #mepolitics

Trump's declaration that radical right extremism is justified as a response to the left will likely be heard all over the far right as a clear invitation to violence.

“That statement is basically a permission slip," one tracker of right wing extremism tells me.
