I was 13, was there, and it was awesome. Formative moment for me (my dad was a striker).
Rev. Jackson showed us that in a system that grinds down workers to extract every bit of wealth from us & right-wing politicians seek to divide us based on race, gender, immigration status, working class solidarity is what can unite us to fight for a better world.

You can still find older folks in Western Maine who love Trump and Jesse Jackson.
When Jesse Jackson came to Maine in 1987 to support striking paper workers, he changed hearts & minds.

"Yesterday I wouldn't think of voting for a Black man for president," a woman striker said. "Tonight I gave him a check for his campaign." maineaflcio.org/news/maine-a...

As the Susan Collins-friendly outlet so often does, Portland Press Herald buries the lede here.

Gotta read into the piece to learn that Collins -- who we keep being told has enormous sway over govt funding decisions -- isn't even involved in the DHS funding negotiations!

Sorry, what? #MEpolitics

The Press Herald is vastly overcounting Susan Collins' fundraising numbers. $2.7M from joint fundraising committees are already included in her totals. So she only raised $4.7M last year, not $7.4 million. Platner out-raised Collins last year by $3.2 million
