At this point X is like 1950s Vienna, a whole place made up entirely of spies, running ops against other spies, with no non-spy people. Or maybe like a 1971 Black Panthers convention where 3/4 of the attendees are conintelrpo.

In “every Trump accusation is a confession,” it says a lot about the current Pentagon that simply starting the longstanding, unambiguous, and nonpartisan rule “don’t obey illegal orders” sets Hegseth off on a spiral of “hey, don’t talk about our illegal orders!”
Mark Kelly: "I said something that was pretty simple and non-controversial, and that was that members of the military should follow the law. In response to that, Trump said I should be executed, I should be hanged ... it says a lot more about him than it says about me. I'm not going to be silenced."

I still can't believe that the man who bragged about grabbing women by the pussy; who explained to camera how hard his cognitive screening test for Alzheimers was; who encouraged the assassination of his own vice president is still legally at liberty, let alone being president of the United States.

This is honestly what I've been stuck on all day, in addition to the absurd level of weakness it exposes.

This is the "weird," but in their use of the office.
Targeting Kelly is one of those “this is why we’ll win” moments, bc it shows how politically impetuous this admin is.

There’s clearly no adult in the room to say “wait, maybe don’t go after the charismatic war hero turned literal astronaut who ran after his wife was a victim of political violence.”
Mark Kelly: "My wife, Gabby Giffords, meeting with her constituents, shot in the head. Six people killed around her, a horrific thing. She spent six months in the hospital. We know what political violence is and we know what causes it too, The statements that Donald Trump made incites others."

BREAKING: Pope Leo XIV is set to effectively disband Opus Dei in the coming weeks.

This would be the most sweeping internal reform of his pontificate — and a dramatic continuation of Pope Francis’s legacy.
NEW: Pope Leo Set To Break Up Opus Dei
If Pope Leo does indeed approves a plan that effectively dissolves Opus Dei’s structure, it would be the most significant internal action of his short pontificate to date.

What America is going through is not unusual in historical terms. Plenty of examples like it today elsewhere in the world.
What makes it unusual is the rapid collapse from a set of widely espoused norms and values that centered on liberty. It is the sacking of the shining city on hill that shocks.
