Work for a big co & if there's an ethics/compliance investigation at pretty much any level, in addition to E&C person & other company personnel, the employee can invite a 3rd party person - typically a spouse, partner, or friend - sit in & provide emotional support.

This is a lot like mall development in the 1980s. The Blue Jackets want to build a fortress where suburban people can drive in, park, walk directly into the arena, and then go to their cars and get back home without having ever actually stepped foot on a downtown Columbus sidewalk.

There are more auto mfrs, more models, better fuel economy, higher horsepower, in other words, *more choice* than there ever was in the 70s.

The reason we don't have 70s land yacht station wagons is because too few people bought them to be profitable.

These jabronis are certifiable idiots.
Sean Duffy on slashing fuel economy standards: "This rule will actually allow you to bring back the 1970s station wagon. Maybe a little wood paneling on the side. We can bring back choice to consumers."

For my part, I would say that questioning the framing of some Times stories—for example, the highlighting of Trump’s putative emotions or the foregrounding of what he says (even when, as is often the case, what he says is false)—is not an indication that I want my “views validated.”

Well-intentioned, but atty-client & IP specific statutory obligations are no joke.
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Guys consciously trying to sound more masculine by unconsciously mimicking Elizabeth Holmes.
My theory is that something like 30% of all men use a fake deep voice almost all the time. So many guys talk and I instantly think “Not your real voice. Now your coward’s soul is bare to me”
So many men go through life like that. You can play poker because it's right-coded, you can't enjoy fruity alcoholic drinks because they're women-coded, you can't lick an ice cream cone because it's gay-coded. All day, every day, choosing and judging things based on coding for narrow norms.

The official position of the United States government is that swastikas aren't hate symbols and displaying a Pride flag is a fireable offense.
