My pronouns are nerd/geek. I hope I'm an ally to many and an enemy to few. I can't believe bsky ran out of more interesting people to invite.
Well, the folks at the #AI related presentation I was just watching from #msIgnite are really lucky I'm not there in person. What a bunch of horseshit and irrational boosterism. "Just ask the model what it got wrong. You may have to push it a little." And trust what it makes up??????? 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

A1.1) That's tough because much of it is about feels/qualitative employee experience. For quantitative data, we usually have to tie systems together multiple sources and look at throughput and velocity on a per team basis w/r/t their on-lineness. #ciochat

Not always a fan of a16z, but this is a fascinating write-up about the US' #NaturalGas industry. Not sure I agree with their conclusion that these numbers aren't a big problem for the massive #AI/#DataCenter growth and power requirements, but they explain a lot...

It might be a bit much to call this "inevitable", but fast-tracking connection requests for large loads and new generation capacity specifically to serve them was always risky. Another loose spike that might derail the #AI / #DataCenter runaway train...

Groups sue FERC over MISO, SPP fast-track interconnection programs
The groups contend the Midcontinent Independent System Operator and Southwest Power Pool’s processes give undue advantage to fast-tracked projects and will lead to higher residential ratepayer costs.

It's been a while since I was inside a telecom or a telecom software provider, but I would really prefer to see these rules tightened, not loosened. This seems like another bizarre example of deliberately weakening our #cybersecurity capabilities.

What happened to fewer packages and less waste? I chose the nicer option. 3 books from Amazon today = 3 packages including 2 oversized soft mailers and 1 oversized box. 🤷‍♂️

A more nuanced take on the impending #AI bubble than a lot of folks. Not sure I buy the argument that backlash and another full "AI winter" might not follow an LLM bubble collapse. Much also depends on how he's defining the word "model" in there...

Got to love convergent evolution! AWS did "Nitro". Azure has to do "Boost" to compete on a number of levels. If nothing else, the performance / capacity numbers are impressive. I hope the gains in security / isolation are too! #MSIgnite

Ugh... "Breaking" news, indeed... Seems like end-runs to the Supreme Court are the big thing right now, and they get results far too often. Asking companies w/ half a billion or a billion in revenue to report on climate-related issues is really that burdensome? 🤦‍♂️

If even one person "brands me as the bad guy", it's time for me to look in the mirror and ask myself if they've got a point. If I don't get it, it may be time for me to enter into a dialog with them about why they feel that way. Making the choice to be a worse guy is simply not on the table... 🤷‍♂️
Dems didn't brand "white dudes" as the "bad guy" as Portnoy suggests. We branded people who support a toxic, hate-filled convicted felon who abuses women and lies constantly about everything as the bad guys, and they just happen to be disproportionately white men.
