My pronouns are nerd/geek. I hope I'm an ally to many and an enemy to few. I can't believe bsky ran out of more interesting people to invite.
More chipper! We're here for it!

Interesting data from an Uptime Institute survey. I don't know too much about the methodology or the demographics of survey participants, but this is one of many factors that could seriously impact the U.S.'s #DataCenter / #AI boom. We need to bring folks into data center-related trades and fast...

Yeah, yeah... We know how to fix server issues... #NewStyleHacker

Yeah, that's just what I want to see when I hit Ctrl-S on a spreadsheet. Maybe some heavily subsidized #AI query is tying things up and M365 users who actually pay the bills can wait a few moments to save their changes for real...

Wow... I bet the folks who work at branch 00601 feel like people and not just numbers. Not sure I've ever seen an end-customer e-mail (survey invitation) formatted quite this poorly...

If you see this, quote with a robot that isn't from "Star Wars", "Star Trek", "Doctor Who", or "Transformers".

Diving into Susanne Kaiser's "Architecture for Flow" as my next technical read. So far, my feelings are mixed, but I may not be exactly the intended audience. Lots of "yes, but", "yes, and", "that could be dangerous", etc. in the first few chapters. Early rating is 4 stars out of 5 as an intro...

Listening to an industry analyst talking about #AI agent in the software development lifecycle (#SDLC). "It's about building up trust in the agent and the code it produces." No, sir! Bender, et al, called them *stochastic* parrots for a reason. An #LLM doesn't build up a useful track record... 🤦‍♂️

"What have you been feeding this thing?"
"Non-fiction."

"Behind the Throne" by @kbwagers.com was a refreshing change of pace. Took a few pages to get the worldbuilding and narrative style into my head, but it really came together beautifully. My kind of hero! Next volumes on order...

There's only one Isaac I'd sit and talk to for hours, and it isn't him...

One has to wonder just how much the post-WWII, rules-based order can take before rejecting "exceptionalism" on every level... "We're so sorry! We forgot to tell you we were meeting in emergency session last night. Everyone else voted yes..." #OurBad

Meanwhile, Tennessee lets people buy official "don't tread on me" (Gadsden flag) license plates. I don't want to kink-shame the governor, but ... I think those are Trump's boot prints on his ass.

Flying west into the sunset is awesome. Nowhere close to keeping up in a commercial jet, but keeping it on the horizon, sinking slowly, for as long as possible... #ChaseIt

Dinner is off to a good start. Looking forward to pairing the Old Speckled Hen with fish and chips at #ThePub...

A beautiful day for #IBM #TechXchange to wrap up. Great to meet new people as well as names I've known for years. Catching up is always great!

For the saner (sleeping ;-) folks at #IBM #TechXchange, the SpaceX Falcon-9 (Starlink) launch was actually visible from the Hilton a little before 3am... Pretty cool even at this distance...

And that, oh my children, is the difference between "spell check" and "grammar check". If you're posting really important stuff in public, it's best to do both...

Well, that may be the most messed up popup ad I've seen in many a winter moon. Who would ever think of inviting Marsha Blackburn to an #AI summit? Even Skynet would leave her alive as "too dumb to be any threat."

Nothing like a red ale to go with a Big Blue #TechXchange... #yum

I forgot what "far from the elevator" really meant in this hotel. In fairness, it's been 7+ years and a major remodel since I was here...
