This is particularly relevant because the 2038 bug is looming and we're going to have to do all this again.

In 2038, the current timestamp will become too big for 32bit fields.

It's worse than Y2K, and we will likely fail because people think Y2K wasn't real and that it was a funny joke mistake.
That’s not “poor wording.” That’s intentional.

Why would you focus on “Oh, it wasn’t so bad” instead of “millions of tech workers prevented certain disaster?”

This is another in a long list of stories that downplay massive collective action to effect positive change.
i know “live up to the hype” is poor wording but i feel like everyone’s skipping over the “after years and billions of dollars were spent on painstaking preparation” part of this post
