Sotomayor: "The implication of the Government’s position is that not only noncitizens but also United States citizens could be taken off the streets, forced onto planes, and confined to foreign prisons with no opportunity for redress if judicial review is denied unlawfully before removal"
#BREAKING: 5-4 Court, with Barrett joining the three Dem. appointees in dissent *vacates* Chief Judge Boasberg’s temporary restraining orders in the Alien Enemy Act cases. Judicial review must be available, Court holds, but has to come through habeas petitions:

American war planning usually takes place in highly secure facilities. But the Trump administration planned its strikes on the Houthis using a group chat—and accidentally included The Atlantic’s editor in chief, @jeffreygoldberg.bsky.social. theatln.tc/AmsjsuT6

The thing about Trump’s team is that we learn how many morally bankrupt, marginally intelligent, men of utterly average substance have walked among us, seemingly successful, running money-making firms, CEOs and venture capitalists - even the richest man in the world.

They have been unmasked.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick: "Let's say Social Security didn't send out their checks this month, my mother-in-law wouldn't call and complain. She just wouldn't."

This moment in our country's history is depressing, but it's also illuminating. We're finding out, in real time, whom among those in power will hedge their bets, trade complicity for personal preservation, and retreat into cowardice in the hopes they'll be spared.

And we will remember their names.

There’s a lot of illegal sh*t going on.

So I asked my colleagues on @democrats-judiciary.house.gov to help explain some of the Trump Administration’s illegal actions in this edition of “Is this sh*t legal?”

I’m telling you @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, please watch this. This is the energy. Not egg prices and book tours and strongly worded letters. It’s time to take the gloves off.

For real, Democratic party, ORGANIZE. @indivisible.org et al are awesome, but relying only on grassroots at this point is not ok. If you put 1/10 of the energy mobilizing to protest as you do texting for donations, we could make a huge impact. Hell, invite Mitch to the festivites. He seems pissed.
And people talk about how Koreans "showed up for their country" but like. Why do you think they showed up where they showed and when they showed up? The opposition party was literally sending SMS alerts and mass-printing glossy color cardstock signs for their voters

Danielle Sassoon, will you be my Galentine?
In the modern history of the Justice Dept., there has never been such a thug-like, ruthless perversion of the rule of law to serve political interests. Kudos to the prosecutors who stood tall, faithfully fulfilled their oath to the Constitution, and refused to buckle

I canceled WaPo today after another round of whitewashed headlines.
I'd made excuses to keep it - It's my local paper! I'd be lost without the CWG forecast or Petri's humor! But it's clear that the WaPo I loved is gone.

It seems odd to say that a newspaper broke your heart, but here we are.
