Just some guy. He/him. Politics, psychology, movies, jazz, but mostly album cover art and the Grateful Dead
Here's hi-res album cover artwork for Miles Davis' E.S.P. (1965) [2368x2368]. Check next skeet for a helpful link.

That's Davis' then-wife, Frances Taylor Davis posing with him. Back when ugly people could get recording contracts, beautiful women helped sell jazz records. This was one of the ...

I'll read any serious article that includes the phrase, "strategic monkey reserve."

Also, I've got fifty bucks for any reporter who asks Trump or Vance if we're developing a strategic monkey gap with China.
Last November, 43 rhesus macaques escaped from Alpha Genesis, one of the country’s biggest breeders of primates used in scientific experiments. Ava Kofman writes about the fraught circumstances and politics surrounding the monkey jailbreak.
The Runaway Monkeys Upending the Animal-Rights Movement
A troop of macaques escaped one of the largest primate-breeding facilities in America. Now a strange coalition of uncompromising activists and MAGA loyalists is demanding that all lab animals be set f...

Here's high-res album cover art for Jefferson Airplane's "After Bathing at Baxter's." Recorded during the Summer of Love, it caught the giddy vibe of young San Franciscans watching a rainbow-colored balloon swell to bursting.

James Bond doesn't have to be an individual. Fan canon holds "James Bond" is a code name / job title for MI5's top agent.

The movie doesn't have to explain, either. The supermodel playing the villain says, "I'm told you're a man of many talents." Daniel Kaluuya arches an eyebrow, and we're off.
The James Bond discourse just doesn't work on any level for me, what do you mean "the audience won't buy it," they think Timothy Dalton and Sean Connery are the same guy

The new Dave's Picks, Vol. 56 from the Grateful Dead sounds damn good. Fat bass, clear vocals. Brent takes many actual solos, as opposed to adding color the way he would mostly do later.

Here's hi-res album cover art. See following skeet for useful links:

Enjoying "The Pride of Pimlico," a trad-Irish song from the Chieftains. The drone of the pipes and bodhran rhythms are particularly nice.

Now wondering how severe someone's alcoholism had to be for them to be known as, "Keogh the whiskey-drinker."

Overheard The Kinks' "Come Dancing" the other day. It was gentlemanly of Ray Davies to mention his sister's honor:

"He didn't know the night would end up in frustration
He'd end up blowing all his wages for the week
All for a cuddle and a peck on the cheek"

happy bday poet Sylvia Plath, b.1932, Boston.

“I took a deep breath and listened to the old brag of my heart. I am, I am, I am.”

“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, "This is what it is to be happy.”

Again, the Bible is unambiguous about it.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another; do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.

Fun story: in 1920 the Irish Republic loaned the Bolsheviks $25,000, who gave them as collateral the Romanov family jewels. For three decades, until the loan was repaid, these jewels were kept secret behind a fireplace in an unassuming house: 15 Marino Crescent—the birthplace of Bram Stoker.

Doing French on Duolingo.

"Marcher" just means "to walk."
"Demander" just means "to ask for."
"Réunion" just means "meeting."

French-speakers sound so cool and detached, but it's the language of melodrama.

Hi-res album cover art for Bob Dylan's "Time Out of Mind" (1997). As close as he came to equaling "Blood on the Tracks," & just as much of a divorce album.

The flags were lowered last night around the base by order of President Trump after the killing of Charlie Kirk and will stay at half-staff on this U.S. outpost in southeast Cuba until sunset on Sunday.
