Here's hi-res album cover artwork for Miles Davis' E.S.P. (1965) [2368x2368]. Check next skeet for a helpful link.

That's Davis' then-wife, Frances Taylor Davis posing with him. Back when ugly people could get recording contracts, beautiful women helped sell jazz records. This was one of the ...

"War's good business, so give your son / but I'd rather have my country die for me," she sings.

A fierce denunciation of the Vietnam war, right? Right - but the second line comes from the "Circe" chapter of Ulysses.

Here's high-res album cover art for Jefferson Airplane's "After Bathing at Baxter's." Recorded during the Summer of Love, it caught the giddy vibe of young San Franciscans watching a rainbow-colored balloon swell to bursting.

The new Dave's Picks, Vol. 56 from the Grateful Dead sounds damn good. Fat bass, clear vocals. Brent takes many actual solos, as opposed to adding color the way he would mostly do later.

Here's hi-res album cover art. See following skeet for useful links:

It's weird that Yes' commercial-sellout album was also one of their best. And it's weird to hear how much prog remains under the MTV sheen. Most songs are under six minutes and started as Trevor Rabin compositions...

Hi-res album cover art for Bob Dylan's "Time Out of Mind" (1997). As close as he came to equaling "Blood on the Tracks," & just as much of a divorce album.

Reddit and imgur compress images, which hurts picture quality. There's an uncompressed 2830x2830 .jpg here: drive.google.com/file/d/1ohzJ...

If there were quadruple features, "Fitzcarraldo" and "Burden of Dreams" would go with "Apocalypse Now," and "Hearts of Darkness." Filmmakers, jungle rivers, cost overruns, threats from financiers, etc. Coppola said "Hearts of Darkness" should have been called, "Watch Francis Suffer".

Re-reading Jaws. 1st time since I was way too young. For a beach read, there's a surprising amount about tensions between the snooty "summer people," and the blue-collar locals who resent their dependence on them. No wonder Castro praised the book's class-consciousness.

Went to see "Twister" for the popcorn. "Who's that playing the hipster doofus?" I wondered. "He's stealing the movie."

Didn't stay for the credits, so I didn't find out until PSH died.

Alice goes down the rabbit hole because she wants to know why the rabbit has a waistcoat and a pocket watch. She never finds out. She only gets more questions, confusion, insults and accusations.

If anti-intellectuals stopped to think about things, they'd love that.

... from 3-29-1990 was devoutly wished-for blessing. We couldn't know they'd release the entire show someday.

Seven months later, the band released a full show on CD for the first time. "Without a Net" suddenly seemed a lot less relevant.

Here's hi-res album cover art for the Grateful Dead's "Without a Net." When this came out in 1990, it felt like a big deal. It was their first live album in nine years - they'd released seven from 1969 to 1981. Two full CDs of the band we young 'uns knew.
