History/linguistics/geopolitics geek, stubborn streak (think Petty's "I Won't Back Down") that serves me well in my battle for democracy. I'm like Canada - nice until you push me too far...then you'll be the one who's "Sorry."

Get ready to hear this spiel from Trump's circle as commonly as we used to hear "of course Trump will be happy to release his taxes, just as soon as the IRS completes its audit."
Everyone does know what's going on here, right? Should the Epstein evidence bill pass both the House and Senate, these criminals will say it can't be released because there is an active investigation. Never mind that a thorough investigation was completed, and the DOJ was prepared to try Epstein.

#ICYMI: The Department of Homeland Security says it intends to add state driver's license information to a swiftly expanding federal system envisioned as a one-stop shop for checking citizenship.

DHS Wants States to Hand Over Driver’s License Data for Citizenship Checks
It’s the latest step in an unprecedented initiative to pool confidential data that the Trump administration claims will help identify noncitizens on voter rolls and tighten immigration enforcement.

Explain this to me, Ben. How would releasing the Epstein files help her destroy the Trump presidency? I’m not quite clear on your thinking.

The notoriously litigious Donald Trump has been involved in over 4,000 lawsuits. The touchy litigant has even sued a network for editing an interview of someone else. But he has NEVER sued over allegations that his was a pedophile connected to Jeffrey Epstein. Hmm.

USA TODAY Network: Dive into Donald Trump's thousands of lawsuits

When Massachusetts passed a "millionaires tax" in 2023, conservatives claimed the rich would flee.

But two years later, they haven't — and MA has collected $5.7B for infrastructure and public education.

A reminder that positive change can still happen at the state level.

If the National Governors Association chooses to remain silent, Illinois will have no choice but to withdraw from the organization.

We should be standing as one against the idea that Donald Trump can call up the National Guard against our will.

RAJU: You swore in 2 GOP members during pro forma session. Why not swear in Grijalva? Does it have to do w/her signature on Epstein petition?

JOHNSON: It has nothing to do with that. We'll swear her in when everybody is back

R: Why not now?

J: Uh - we'll schedule it, I guess, as soon as she wants

Question for those advocating a “big tent,” are you all also speaking up for NYC democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani. I often hear newly “converted” democrats with a clear history of supporting conservative ideology argue Democrats should welcome them but at the same time try to kick out progressive.

Extraordinarily corrupt. I watched FCC chair Brendan Carr's full interview on Hannity. Carr basically said straight out that coverage of Trump he deems overly hostile can be decreed contrary to the "public interest," and thus grounds for yanking licenses:
