Hope from @nberlat.bsky.social in @atrupar.com's PN:

"That may mean that we will, in fact, after much suffering, perhaps be able to end this fascist nightmare, and start building a country that stands for something other than hate and cruelty for all."

Great video analysis of Minneapolis shooting from NYT. These frames show drawing of gun and exact moment of first shot.

NEW: The ICE killing of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, the Venezuela attack, the new White House Jan. 6 website—these each convey a powerful & unsettling message from Trump, Miller, and their crew: Violence is ours to use, at home and abroad, to get what we want. Beware.

Please read and share.

The message is clear—be afraid.

Trump's plan appears to be for Venezuela to remain under the day-to-day rule of a senior chavista, with its democratically elected leaders excluded and its wealth controlled by American corporations. It's a scheme worthy of a mob boss. www.economist.com/the-americas...

TRUMP JUST ATTACKED VENEZUELA, MURDERED INNOCENT CIVILIANS & ABDUCTED A WORLD LEADER & HIS WIFE FROM THEIR BEDROOM. Presidents do not get to bomb a country, abduct a world leader, and decide who lives or dies without a vote. If Congress doesn’t act now it isn’t checking power — it’s surrendering it.

The offer made to women in the enticement to become trad wives is the same as the offer made to citizens in the enticement to embrace authoritarianism: give up. Abandon the aspiration to self rule. It’s imprisonment recast as rest and relief.
A gender lens remains one of the best ways to understand far right authoritarian regimes. Male order is imposed through a family-like structure, with women subservient and children taught that fear is the price of belonging www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i...
