Why practices to connect us with our own humanity, each other, & perhaps something bigger, really matter now—

And can help keep us more whole, less responding on their terms & more on our own, more making choices as the people we wish to be.

Gorgeous thread on "basic common sense" -- and how we need to grow beyond it to be fully alive and fully human.
I don't WANT to preach this morning -- JD Vance is not a serious person, he lacks the intellectual chops to do this kind of work, so rewarding his thirst with response is undignified -- but the Spirit demands at least a brief bit of sermonizing

Really lovely thread about the necessity of joy in hard times. Marathon pace, not a sprint!
As we go marching, marching, in the beauty of the day
A million darkened kitchens, a thousand mill lofts grey
Are touched with all the radiance that a sudden sun discloses
For the people hear us singing: "Bread and roses, bread and roses"
Somebody yelled at me for posting about Ganymede instead of /the state of things/ last night.

I know we’re (almost) all on the same page here, but a Bluesky without cute cats, science facts, and dumb jokes would be bad for everyone.

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

I found this very helpful!
There's lots of wisdom and kindness in this article about grief, loss, attachments & how to cope. It's a Q&A with the therapist who coined the term "ambiguous loss," who sounds like she is an amazing therapist. 🧪 www.scientificamerican.com/article/elec... by @meghanbartels.bsky.social

I've been following @kbspangler.com for a while, but only recently cracked open SIDE QUESTED. Well, shame on me, because it's adorable and fun and just the right blend of obstinate ploughing past obstacles that only a young librarian in love can bring. Lifts my spirits every page!
Good morning, new followers!

Would you like a new #webcomic to read on this fine day? SIDE QUESTED follows the story of Charlie, a librarian-in-training, who falls face-first into the middle of a love triangle.

Mary Burchell remains one of the most successful romance writers, ever. Over 110 Mills and Boon books to her name.

Less well known is that much of her early writing was done for one purpose:

Funding her efforts to get Jews out of Nazi Germany, with her sister.

Mary is a Righteous Gentile. /1 🧵

There's got to be something you can add to your turn of phrase here!
A Dutch way of saying “we’re on it” or “we’ll take care of that for you” is we zullen dat varkentje wel even wassen. It means “we will certainly get that piglet washed”
