Hmm.
Writing seems to have returned after several weeks.
Hello old friend. Missed you. Was worried you'd gone forever.

I'm now 3 calls into trying to ascertain whether the local hospital even ASKED for pre-auth on a $1600 charge. Pretty sure they didn't.
Of course, since their phone system is down half the time, I'm actually 6 calls in ...

Scrambled egg with tomato, green onions, and serranos this morning over rice. There's a reason "tomato egg" is a ubiquitous food across cultures.

This health thing? A month in and I've lost nearly 10lbs, my BP is coming down, and aside from my arthritic feet I feel better. It's so annoying.

For some reason the mindless basketball game I wanted to watch, which YouTubeTV says should be on the local NBC feed, is not. And it's some stupid "true crime" bullshit. WTF?

If you're an Americanist who teaches at a racist Southern university, and you're getting hostile with me over a NYT Thanksgiving menu written by a Persian-American James Beard writer because the holiday is "no time for experimentation," I'm going to block you for being a racist and an asshole.

My first Thanksgiving out West, the woman I nannied for put the turkey in on low, in one of those big bags and we went out to ski all day. Big potluck in the evening. I was so fucking grateful I didn't have to prep all day, or worse, watch football, that I think it's why I never went back east.

Wow. Just had to block a big account for getting unreasonably angry with me because I hate fucking Thanksgiving.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

All this news about old men chasing young women. My dad (44) married my stepmother (22) when I was 13, and the two of them have spent the intervening decades telling me it wasn't gross, and she's adamant she wasn't groomed. 1/2

TFW an unhinged and totally unqualified local person has thrown her hat in the ring for US Senate and you're pretty sure is also running a bunch of sock puppet accounts on Reddit defending herself.

This is SUCH a great story. I know this piece of land well, grew up at a now-closed resort on one side and my brother went to camp just on the far side. I'm so proud of these nuns! (And look how grumpy the Bishop looks). 19thnews.org/2025/11/cath...
For the first time, Catholic sisters return land to a Tribal nation

Also a huge issue here in MT.
AT&T has been trying to get rid of landlines in California for YEARS because they are expensive and annoying to maintain, with shrinking market share. The people who use them, however, REALLY need them for safety and communication esp in rural areas with limited cell coverage.
They rely on copper landlines for emergencies. AT&T could threaten their lifeline
AT&T is fighting to ease regulations requiring landlines, which cost it $1 billion per year in California. It has spent big on lobbying.

I see a lot of people speculating about how Alice died and I am asking you to...please not do that. If her family wants to share information about that on their own time, they will, but the speculation and sometimes outright conspiracy theories are actually really upsetting for them to see.

I bought a 20 lb bag of regular Homei rice at Winco after eating Chico Rice's extraordinary lightly-milled blonde rice for several years and, um? I miss the good rice.
Might have to just order it again and add the cheap rice to the chicken feed.

Himself ran speaker wire to my replacement bookshelf CD unit in the greenhouse writing shed and perhaps one reason i've been stuck for several weeks has been the construction on the front side of the house? Because a little music and light out here, and I'm tiptoeing my way toward a notebook again.
