My grandmother's Aunt Marie (known as "The Duchess") in her uniform as a WW1 ambulance driver. Her parents had just died on the Lusitania, and she drove newly-built ambulances from Chicago to the East Coast to be shipped out. The uniform is now in the Chicago History Museum.

Everything is a lot right now but I used up the pie crust offcuts I've been saving, and the roasted backyard plums I made the other day, and made a crumble topping and it is very tasty.

My grandmother's aunt, known as "The Duchess" who later in life wore bespoke men's suits with skirts and brogues, ran a settlement house, and would call the OG Mayor Daley and say "It's me." Here she is, young, on our farm, fixing her own Model A (T?) in big Edwardian sleeves/shirtwaist:
