Hello new followers 🖖 I like looking at the plasma membrane by high res microscopy. Here, you see a platinum replica EM of a fibroblast plasma membrane with clathrin dome (in the center) and caveolae (small invaginations on the side)

The Myo2 adaptor Ldm1 and its receptor Ldo16 mediate actin-dependent lipid droplet motility
The Myo2 adaptor Ldm1 and its receptor Ldo16 mediate actin-dependent lipid droplet motility
Zhao et al. identify the molecular machinery for lipid droplet motility, consisting of the type V myosin Myo2, the Myo2 adaptor protein Ldm1, and its surface receptor Ldo16. They uncover a molecular link between lipid droplet motility and retention via contact-site formation and an unexpected connection to mitochondrial motility.

Seipin Governs caveolin-1 trafficking through modulating sphingolipid-glycerolipid balance
Seipin Governs caveolin-1 trafficking through modulating sphingolipid-glycerolipid balance
Carpentier et al. suggest that seipin regulates palmitate flux between sphingolipids and glycerolipids. Seipin loss causes ceramide buildup, trans-Golgi disorganization, and misrouting of caveolin-1 to lipid droplets instead of the plasma membrane. These findings identify seipin as a key regulator of overall lipid metabolism, protein trafficking, and organelle membrane homeostasis.
