The Godfather: opening scene.

“Some day, and that day may never come, I will come to you for a favor…”

That is clear corruption.
Corruption requires explict quid pro quo. It is not corrupt to take an action that aligns with the interest of a person who gives you a gift, unless the official action was in direct response to that gift--a bribe. Terms matter. Accuracy and fairness matters. Regardless of what social media wants.

I hate that the thanks for donating to a Democratic candidate is having my phone number sold on a list to a hundred other campaigns, all of whom send me passive-aggressive texts asking for my donation, often weirdly attempting a guilt trip, as though I knew them. I really don’t like that.

The 17th amendment that allows for the direct election of senators was passed to prevent the wealthy from buying senators.

Guess we didn’t count on the richest man on the planet doing it directly. En masse.

The Commerce Secretary is promoting a company’s stock on live TV, and not just any company’s - the company owned by a ‘special government employee’ and the president’s biggest donor.

The corruption is the point.
On Jesse Watters’ show, Howard Lutnick, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, tells viewers they should buy Tesla stock.

“I think if you want to learn something on this show tonight, buy Tesla. It’s unbelievable that this guy’s stock is this cheap. It’ll never be this cheap again.”

Great art, like #Severance, is not for everyone, and causes people to disagree about what makes it great, what works for them, what "sucks" and what doesn't.

That's why art is so important. And why you can never "enjoy each piece of art equally".

Note that Clara Shih leans fully into her diverse heritage to explain herself. Is it BS? Sure.

But I thought Meta fully disavowed DEI?

You mean that having people with a range of life experiences can be helpful? Huh. 🤷‍♂️

If Democrats want to beat back this threat, we need the best communicators out on the field.

We need Pete, and Jasmine, and AOC out there -- all day every day.

Hakeem is a nice, smart guy. But can't do this. Neither can Chuck Schumer or any of the other octogenarians in Dem leadership.
Starting this week, we’ll all pay more at the store because of the Trump tariffs, even while he’s finalizing a multi-trillion-dollar tax cut for the wealthy.

All the bluster is meant to get us talking about literally anything else.

The most "Trump" things happened today:

-- Hawking personal merchandise from the Oval Office
-- while selling US admission to the ultra-wealthy
-- while actively kicking out hardworking poor immigrants
-- and holding an ally hostage for their mineral rights

All in one day, the Trump Superfecta.

JPMorgan’s portfolio is heavily invested in city centers.

Major office complexes (like their $3b HQ), shopping centers, transit bonds, etc. are key, for JPM and their clients.

Follow the money: Jamie Dimon’s concern isn’t his company’s culture, or even its effectiveness.

It’s his wallet.
