Amazon just sued one of the largest power companies in Oregon after it failed to power up two data center (one without enough power and one with no power at all) campuses that were meant to be ready *in 2021*. Sure hope this isn't an industry wide problem!

At some point I might just write “what if everybody is wrong?” because there is a chance I believe nobody bothered to work out if any of this would make a profit or, indeed, whether you’d be able to power the data centers themselves

This is far beyond any measure of “somebody should’ve said something” - it has become a media and society-wide groupthink nightmare where ignorance and fantasy have melded into a “plan for the future” that was neither possible nor profitable, all because everybody craves to believe the status quo

When a country is sliding into a dictatorship, standing up to the wannabe dictator is the strategy AND the goal. Delaying his consolidation of power using any tool available is of paramount importance.
Winning policy battles should not be a goal, no matter how righteous that policy is.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.
