best time of my life was when I was walking to work tbh. remote work doesn't count, that's just its own hell.
“Someone with a 1-hr car commute needs to earn 40% more to be as happy as someone with a short walk to work. On the other hand, if someone shifts from a long commute to a walk, their happiness increases as much as if they’d fallen in love.” #CityMakingMath

If "defund the police" was a "bad slogan" we wouldn't still be talking about it. it's actually literally that simple.

instead of level there is Dark Orb
In Donkey Kong Bananza, demolishing all destructible terrain on DK Island reveals a shadow sphere that was hidden at the heart of the island. While the sphere is simply a darkness effect for the cave, it was clearly not intended to be seen like this and creates an ominous effect.

Since I love procgen / high systemic story generator games, I decided to finally pick up Rim World. But I did not like it, which did not make any sense. So I spent a bunch of time trying to figure out why and made a little graph.

Keep thinking about this term "pre-digested" that Kojima used to describe art that's instantly gratifying. And how it's better when people grow to love something instead.

I've gravitated, as player and designer, toward the latter, but that term "pre-digested" is new and feels very strong.

I really gotta do another longer stay in NYC one of these days. I love it here so much and these two-night work trips are frustrating bc I have no time to enjoy it.

While Portland's freeway expansion plans are collapsing, let's talk about reviving the campaign to bury I-5 on the east side. This should be a big wonderful waterfront park full of legally sanctioned hot dog vendors!!
Look at the central city riverfront of Portland. It's just so shocking and embarrassing that we tolerate this.

and yet people keep saying we should fund the police in order to reduce traffic fatalities 🫠
Despite the driver's admission of guilt, a solid witness statement, and irrefutable video evidence, PPB Officer Alexandru Martiniuc declined to issue any citation at all. The reason: The driver felt bad and said sorry.

I'm developing a theory of game mechanics where there's a spectrum between "upgrades" and "options". Contrast, say, clicker games (pure upgrade) with something like deckbuilding in a TCG.
