Study - how marine heatwaves are reshaping the shape & carbon content of #phytoplankton in NE Pacific. Elongated cells dominate during warming, likely altering the carbon pump. Long-term #CPRsurvey data is critical to understanding #climatechange impacts at microbial scales. doi.org/10.1002/lno....

Ride a bicycle and shed less microplastics.
Tyre-wear particles are a major source of microplastics that harm the environment.

The good news? Prevention and mitigation can help to #BeatPollution.

I'd like to introduce a new page on my website: U.S. climate indicator visuals (zacklabe.com/united-state...).

I only have a few basic variables so far, but I will be expanding this summer to add a range of metrics (e.g., ecological). I welcome suggestions! Hope this is useful, especially nowadays.

It’s Monday and time for a Calanoid copepod cheer! (Sound on!) This little juvenile is reminding you YOU’VE GOT THIS! And that together, we can achieve amazing things!

See, the ecosystem services of plankton go beyond nutrient cycling, they can be little motivators too! #plankton 🦑

Important to note that our conclusions depend not just on the results of model integrations, but on our understanding of the mechanisms involved. Still, little is certain in this business, and it does not mean the risk of collapse is not there, even if we think it is unlikely.

Unlikely before 2100—but the risks are real 🚨

We find Southern Ocean winds keep this vital ocean "heat engine" running, even under extreme #climatechange. But the Pacific holds a surprise…
