Hello, I'm Lilian and I'm generally splitting my time between #offhore structures and #sharks! I often use #acoustics, underwater imaging or #drones to measure turbulent flows or to understand foraging dynamics. I'm a #drone pilot. Oh, and I love kiting! Looking forward to meeting lots of new faces!
It's official: @alexnimmosmith.bsky.social & I have launched the HOLOtag for ocean observation on a micro-AUV! An ultra-compact plankton imaging sensor, the #HOLOtag is a real breakthrough in sensor innovation and now backed by the @royalsociety.org 🌊🦑🧪

Wind turbines affect local wind regime, esp. downwind from them. How that affects marine ecosystems, through wind-related features like upwelling, is something we are still learning. But aspects like surface primary productivity seem to be affected. 🧪🌊

🌊🦑 Remember this one? I just wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you. As my first time going through this as lead supervisor, it was exciting to see so much interest & strong candidates— truth be told, it was also encouraging to see that the kinds of ideas I’m envisioning are resonating.

🐋 “Fishermen, hunters and researchers gathered at the Alaska Marine Science Symposium in Anchorage in January to discuss how several fish species and marine animals are changing their migration patterns in the warming climate.”
Scientists witnessed a ‘Humpback Palooza’ in the Arctic. Local hunters worry about what that could mean for subsistence.
In recent years, researchers have documented salmon surviving in North Slope rivers, bowhead whales expanding their foraging grounds and humpbacks moving into the Arctic.

This still makes me chuckle and that is exactly what makes bluesky great. Keep it going, friends. 😂👍
We have contacted the school's dean to dismiss the person responsible for the postings, along with the faculty members they were discussing, so that none of us has to hear about them again. 🙃

But seriously, I've been told that this shouldn't happen again.
