Judith Tarr, an awesome author and certified Good Person, is looking to raise some funds for expected surgery for her older dog’s eye. If you ever wanted to have your fiction work professionally evaluated, this is a great opportunity that will also help her doggo!
Welp, looks as if the attempt to keep Dog 1's remaining eye is rapidly losing ground. Surgery for the other in 2022 was $2500, has probably gone up.

So, great time to point out that I have a Patreon (with fiction!):

personally I think it's great that comrades Musk and Trump have defeated the scourge of DEI as a revolutionary advance towards Socialism with Rhodesian Characteristics
Trump has ordered federal agencies to prioritise humanitarian relief and admission to the United States for white Afrikaner refugees from South Africa.

You know, that poor, victimised minority.

I'll be calling Congress, but the conversation won't be to tell them to get Musk out of various government departments. It'll be to arrest him. I don't need a conversation about whether he should be there or not. That conversation should be about the expectation of his arrest.

Fuckery.
The bill would require the DHS to detain undocumented immigrants who are charged with low-level crimes, such as theft, and to expedite their deportation, even before they are ever convicted, a violation of the due process rights afforded to them in the U.S. Constitution.

Right-wing responses to the fires include: claims the fires were started by unhoused people, that gender affirming care for undocumented people has consumed disaster funding, and Elon Musk’s claim that these fires are “easily preventable.” That’s how they’ll avoid talking about climate. Scapegoats.

“The problem with this elitist case against democracy is that elites are just as biased, and furthermore are liable to use their greater knowledge to bolster their biases rather than correct them. The problem of human bias goes all the way down.”
Corollary to this great @himself.bsky.social post on social media: I've been thinking a lot about the sort of publics our built environment creates, and how that also undermines democracy. open.substack.com/pub/programm...
We're getting the social media crisis wrong
The bigger problem isn't disinformation. It's degraded democratic publics
