African Elephants are my favorite land animal species, by far. During yesterday’s earthquake, my babies at the San Diego Zoo reacted to the quake, immediately protective of their most-vulnerable Community members. Humans could learn SO much from these beauties, if we’d just humble ourselves. 🐘🐘

I can't emphasize enough that the most important thing journalists can do right now is publish exactly this kind of article

When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

Not getting much attention, but the Senate GOP is about to start voting - to make sure banks can charge higher overdraft fees. Seriously.

Good time to let your Senators know what you think of that.

every person involved in this needs to be in prison
“One young man sobbed when a guard pushed him to the floor. He said, ‘I’m not a gang member. I’m gay. I’m a barber.’ I believed him. *** He “began to whimper,” as his head was roughly shaved, “folding his hands in prayer as his hair fell.” He “asked for his mother & cried as he was slapped again.”

There are no leftist ideas allowed on TV or in mainstream media. No one is on TV talking about nationalizing all utilities or making Facebook public. You can't be treated seriously, saying there should be open borders. Let alone take single-payer seriously. That's how right-wing our media system is

That's how we keep prices so low. Please spread the word !

The NYT, WaPo, LAT, CNN, etc etc have shifted to the right. Fox & the Post et al have always been hard right. Twitter & Meta are controlled by right wingers. On a daily basis, millions of Americans - probably the majority - see nothing but sanitized, accomodationist, right wing coverage of Trump.
the average person isnt paying attention. Most people have no idea whats going on.

Fuck Donald Trump and His authoritarianism. Trump needs young people to be afraid and shut down, so we can't stand up against him fuck him and fuck this administration. No matter what your political leanings are this should piss everybody off. The president is eviscerating our constitution.

I'm sure there's a pattern here but I can't quite put my finger on what it could be. (/s)

I'm sad to share that the trans vet that took her life outside the VA last week was apparently Elisa Rae Shupe.

She's someone many of us know - she was responsible for the mass email leak that let us know how the ADF, Heritage, etc planned to enact trans eradication we see today.

RIP Elisa.

This is my favorite picture of Stonewall.

They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+.

Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them.

I think about it a lot in moments like this.

Who was pushing issues of trans identity, immigration, and the economy in 2024? Dudebro podcasts.

Also this is a fantastic article and analysis and I'll be using it to teach the 2024 election in the future.
