This is my favorite picture of Stonewall.

They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+.

Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them.

I think about it a lot in moments like this.

I am reading a book called Wonder. I am reading it because my 11 year old grandson is reading it and we can now talk about it together. Share the kids books of today.

@chrismurphyct.bsky.social: “What Trump said is he wants the federal government to take a 50% stake in Tiktok. That means he gets to run Tiktok. Well, Don. Jr gets to run Twitter. Once again, you're seeing the Trump administration try assiduously… to have state run, state controlled media.”

Reading Parable of the Talents now by Octavia E Butler. Found this passage relevant to our times. Actually this entire book is relevant to our dystopian reality. #booksky #booktok

Please purchase from small, independent book stores rather than Amazon.

We have literally come to point where we are discussing how to preserve books from the government. If you have any grandfathers left that fought in WW2, ask them what they think about that.

As the U.S. shifts into a volatile political landscape targeting critical thinking, I want to share an important reminder to the #booksky community:

The only way to preserve literature is by collecting physical copies.

I know, Kindle users, it sucks—but your digital copy can be deleted any time.

Just so we’re clear:
1. Audiobooks count
2. Reading is political
3. The orange man is a piece of 💩

Thanks for stopping by 💃

One thing before tomorrow:

Use your local libraries.

Get your card.

Borrow books, manga, films, audios, ebooks.

Recommend titles for purchase (usually online).

Attend promoted activities.

Fill out those "How are we doing?" questionnaires.

Tell your kids that libraries are good.

They are.
