I'm not good, I'm not nice, I'm just right
I have bullied several friends into seeing this with me
This film is getting an unconventional release this weekend, but it whups ass for 2.5 hours. See it with an audience if you can.
The first thing you need to know about the filmed version of the 2023 "Merrily We Roll Along" is that Daniel Radcliffe has a four-foot vertical jump.

There's something a bit magical about wandering around a new city, zonked out of your mind with jet lag, just trying to stay awake long enough to reset your internal clock to local time

This is the smartest electoral work I've seen in... Ever? Possibly ever.

GOTV turned up to 11.
Zohran didn't win by relying on standard turnout patterns. We had to fundamentally transform the Democratic electorate.

I was part of a group of NYC-DSA members that applied lessons from our previous campaigns to design the “universe” of voters to talk to. Here's how we won 🧵

Now we should be fair: he's a pretty high-level toady for the fascist regime.

The rest is accurate.
Speaker Johnson is a low-level toady for the fascist regime.

He has neither dignity, nor backbone, nor soul.

MATTHEW MACFADYEN IS GUITEAU

how am I just learning about this?
Learned last night that we’re getting a Netflix miniseries on the Garfield assassination with Michael Shannon as Garfield and Nick Offerman as Chester A. Arthur, and how are we not all talking about this? www.netflix.com/tudum/articl...

Still proud to have voted against Gavin Newsome way back when he ran for mayor the first time

GASP
You know what this means, fellow academics: September’s intake of freshers will have been born *after* Lordi won the Eurovision Song Contest
Pointing out that 2008 is 17 years ago is a form of violence.

I think mine is the G below middle C. It feels good both on flute and in my voice.
Horrible take. F# is clearly the superior note. But this is exactly the kind of elitist nonsense you have to expect on this echo chamber of a web site.
Music fans what’s your favourite note? I’d have to say mine is Middle C. You just can’t beat the classics!

This was hugely motivating for me. I have trouble picking up the phone, I get too in my head about all the things I want to say. But an email is easy. Calls might be the "most effective" but the email you send is infinitely more effective than the call you don't make.
Found out that TWENTY emails is considered a lot to politicians on an issue.

TWENTY.

As in, they call that getting slammed.

So next time you see a request to email your rep, or call, keep that in mind.

TWENTY is a lot.

This is Sal's great-great-grandkid right? All that sweet sword money let his descendants do whatever they want, so one of them decided to make the best sorbet in Naples?

Ahhhh I see:
Roe was too recent to be established law, but
The VRA is too old to still be valid but
The 2nd Amendment is so old it can never be challenged

The way I just ran to find the list...and can report that my musical theater-themed fantasy roster is very happy today
I for one love the silly geese known as the National Board of Review! We need more silly goose behavior!

Feel the sturm and drang in the aaair
On the 23rd day of the month of September,
In an early year of a decade that might turn out to be our own
The human race suddenly faced
A deadly threat to its very existence...

The closest I ever got to doing treason for Russia was training with an acro/handbalancing coach who used to be in the Moscow State Circus. (And doing vodka shots with his son on NYE, which almost killed me)
The closest I ever got to doing treason for Russia was my senior year of high school when I was in a Russian language course and almost finished my homework.
The closest I ever got to doing treason for Russia was when I did an interview for my second book with Larry King when had a show on RT.

In my defense, I did it because it was a hilarious experience.

Hopping in on the Harrison Ford edition of this meme. I'm told it was the first movie I was taken to see in the theater. I was 3.

I'm such an outlier here, bc I was exactly the correct age for My So-Called Life but just did not connect with it at all. And I cannot abide James Franco. Pushing Daisies however is precisely my kinda weird/whimsical and I still want more
If you need to know the general age of a white millennial, bring up the cancellations of My So-Called Life, Freaks and Geeks, and Pushing Daisies, and see which one makes them the most upset
