Far and away, our most competitive export industry. And we're dismantling it for no good reason, while we pretend to care about trade deficits & international competitiveness & great power rivalry with China. Utter authoritarian madness.
Your periodic reminder that education is one of America's greatest exports, and the way that we export it is typically by bringing the customers to us, selling them the product, and then sending them back home.

Incredible that the side of the debate that was repeatedly wrong to the tune of hundreds of thousands of deaths has the audacity to demand apologies and genuflection from the people who were right and worked to save lives. Sick shit!
More than 700K Americans died from COVID after he wrote this. We still have not achieved herd immunity.

very cool that for ten years people at the heights of political commentary insisted to the point of rage that the paramount threat to free speech was “censorious” college students
after announcing that foreign students are being banned from Havard, Noem warns "this should be a warning to every other university to get your act together."

Now to my argument for MAGA Murder Budget: 1. Accurate. Plan will kill people - not only by decimating healthcare but with snuck in provisions to, for example, block judges from being able to issue injunctions against things like abductions to foreign prisons, & lifting tax on gun silencers.

The NYT and SCOTUS both believe it isn’t “corruption” unless an official is caught accepting a giant bag of cash with literal dollar signs on it *and* saying in front of witnesses “in exchange for this illegal offer of money I will do ____”

Amid all the other news, it's easy to become inured to the basic facts here. Öztürk:

-Is not accused of committing any crime

-Is nonviolent

-Was in this country legally

-Merely engaged in speech that the administration objects to

-Has been locked up for six weeks
Now from Öztürk’s ACLU lawyer Esha Bhandari:

“Rümeysa Öztürk’s case is unprecedented and shocking. She has been held behind bars for six weeks while her health deteriorates for writing an op-ed.”

A man who holds the title of President of the United States, who took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, who then says he doesn’t know if he’d uphold the Constitution, is unfit to be president and should be removed.

Our volunteers visited the staff of Senators Kaine and Warner recently and asked why the senators are STILL VOTING FOR TRUMP NOMINEES? It’s a question with no reasonable answer, and they got none.
It's still worth asking why they are enabling Trump:
Kaine: (202) 224-4024
Warner: (202) 224-2023

Universities keep doing this. They have always done this. It's a massive mistake, & they should stop doing it & defend ALL the disciplines to the public. Look around. The case for more, not less, liberal arts research & teaching is stronger than ever.

It's notable to me that in Harvard's messaging about the value of research, none of the examples come from education, or even from the social sciences. I'm curious about ways to better demonstrate the value of social science research. How can we address this?

The University will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights. Neither Harvard nor any other private university can allow itself to be taken over by the federal government...

This is completely false—as a matter of constitutional text, history, case law, and ordinary common sense. Miller is out to destroy our republic.

This is a country that has locked up a visa-holding Tufts grad student for over a month for an op-ed she wrote in the student newspaper. At the same time, this bizarro world propaganda is being generated in the WH press room. We seem to have a dormant First Amendment.

Rumeysa Ozturk has been in an American jail for over a month now solely because she wrote an op-ed
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt says she will speak to Trump and the National Security team about whether the US can offer political asylum to British citizens fleeing UK free speech laws.

Reality: UK law does not restrict free speech - only incitement to hate, violence and terror.

Centrists want the enthusiasm of the left w/out the message. It's insulting & treats the working class as a commodity. The reason people go out to hear Sanders & AOC is because of the message. "Better things aren't possible" just isn't an energizing slogan. Neither is "let's meet the Nazis halfway."
Why is this 'lazy'? Billionaires are looting the country right now

THIS is why due process matters. Because when ICE has to actually prove to an independent adjudicator whether someone is actually a member of a gang or not, they often fall flat on their face and judges are SHOCKED at how ramshackle and shoddy ICE's work on this stuff is.

They get it wrong a LOT!

Yale grads, this is honestly very important. Please check your emails and vote AGAINST Jaime Teevan as an alumni rep on the Yale Corporation board. She's an "A.i." pusher. Wants to push it on Yale. Unconscionable that she's even nominated.
Fellow Yale alumns, please vote against the "A.i." pusher in the Yale Corporation election they just emailed us about. Vote for the doctor instead.
In her video, Jaime Teevan is pushing "A.i." in education (with usual caveats about needing to take care, etc.). No talk about the theft her "A.i." products are based on or their environmental damage. Talking about Yale using it. No. Not voting for her.
