Sir Terry Pratchett is best understood as one of the most interesting, deeply ethical practical (I would say Pragmatist but I cede to actual experts) philosophers of the late 20th Century who just happened to work in deconstructed fantasy literature as his medium.

Some thoughts on the Levy Review:

- it's mostly but not entirely okay
- if you're in England, opt out of data collection
- it avoids confronting the biggest problems
- it ignores 15 years of health research
- there are clear examples of better practice
- move trans health to primary care already!
Some thoughts on the Levy Review
On 18 December, NHS England quietly published the report of Dr David Levy’s review of adult gender clinics. The report’s official title is the massively dry Operational and delivery rev…

It was used by Hannah Barnes to *manufacture* the appearance of ‘concerns’ about healthcare for trans youth

This ought to be a titanic scandal

"I can speak out even if it is to the detriment of my career."

An act like this is, in itself, a victory for kindness and empathy.
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

The thing about all the anti-trans sports panic: people argue this stuff while talking about elite level sports, but because there aren't actually a ton of superhuman trans women blowing away the competition, the people actually affected end up being those who play sports for fun/socialization

I've forgotten who said it first, but one of the grossest points of our currently landscape is the expectation that we should received clearly disorted and self-serving statements and actions from those in power in good faith and go along with their absurdities

The trail will involve 220 children.

Meanwhile 3000 another children seeking health care for their gender dysphoria will be placed on an ‘observational’ study.

The old ‘watch and wait’ is how Alice was treated. Although this time there might be someone actually watching, this is not health care.🧵
Puberty Blocker clinical trials to begin
on the NHS

- The trial will involve around 220 children under 16
- Young people will “undergo intensive medical and psychological screening”, including Gillick competency evaluation
- Trial: Group 1 will get PBs straight away vs Group 2, 12 months later

This is how transphobia's right wing fuckery blew open basic respect in the UK, there is absolutely no reason to expect now that being "women critical" is not also a protected belief, if you truly do not believe that women should just be reproductive slaves for cis men.

This will be used to abuse.
