Netflix - please stop minimising the end credits of movies to suggest something else. Let viewers enjoy the soundtrack and see the cast and crew that worked on the film. We'll exit it ourselves when ready to.

Just catching up on this incredible new form of stupidity. I'm so pleased. It's a delight to watch the right engage in the kind of pointless theatrical bullshit progressives usually get lost in.

£300 billion cost of Brexit by 2035. That's an absolutely ludicrous amount of money to be throwing away.

And of course that won't be the end of the damage. Hundreds of billions more over the decade after that, trillions of pounds over the v long term.

No mere trade deal will EVER make up that gap.
“The economic cost of Brexit, reliably estimated at around 5% of GDP and with a total loss to government coffers by 2035 of over £300bn, is unlikely to be offset by attempting to ‘make Brexit work’ – a slogan which rather confirms that it hasn’t”

Brexit – an unwelcome truth
Labour’s continued silence on Brexit might just reveal an unwelcome truth; another reason, perhaps, to use the Brexit telescope?

A perfect storm of problems means more and more people are finding themselves homeless & sleeping rough & it’s getting worse - it’s a situation playing out across the country

Numerous times this week, I’ve learned of news breaking on Bluesky before Twitter. In the past, it’s only ever been Twitter. Bodes well for the future of this site.

Small note: I wish there was a way to segment notifications (people I follow, mentions, etc).

Labour binned off a petition with 46,000 signatures calling for Britain to apply to join the EU with their usual chorus of no to the SM, CU or rejoining.

Guess that's 46,000 votes they believe they don't need come 2029. Gut instinct is that's a huge mistake.

Must be great to be Labour and be so confident of taking Remain votes for granted that you're quite happy to keep repeating "no to SM, no to CU, no to EU" again and again and again every single chance you get.

Unfortunately there's no do-over when they lose GE 2029 and the Tories sweep back in.

Post-Brexit Britain’s Trump problem goes much deeper than trade tariffs. New post on my Brexit & Beyond Blog. The discussion of how the UK might respond to Trump's tariffs is already confused, and anyway misses the bigger challenge they betoken:

John Prescott was a politician both behind and ahead of his time. Considered too bluff and old Labour to reach to the very top in the 90s, today his authenticity and class credentials would have been perfect to fight Farage and populism. Labour needs more like him.

Her theories about plots to undermine Tory prime ministers are paranoid fantasies - you have to admire her chutzpah if nothing else
