When microtransactions became a widespread thing, there was all sorts of apologia as to why it was fine and good actually, even in singleplayer games, and like what are you gonna do? Not play those games? Turns out yes, I can and did do just that. AI is certainly more pernicious, but still. Fuck it!
So look man if we're just gonna be online here watching all these big studios come out and lay down on the tracks about Gen AI going "I have to do this for some reason." then I think it's more important than ever to celebrate games from based devs who are out here openly posting "Nuh uh, fuck that."

Like man, my career only exists in the way that it does now because a production designer was googling "realistic pokemon" and found me. If he could have just had a machine spit that out, I never would have gotten a job. This is a major issue hitting artist discoverability.

i take frenzy damage every time i see someone go "well i just use it for the boring stuff". what are you TALKING about? if it's boring or unimportant, why are you putting it in? NPC dialogue is fertile ground for worldbuilding, creating verisimilitude, conveying important information, and hijinks!!
