This seems an excessive overreaction for a Director General to resign over that. The BBC is held to *much* higher standards than every other media outlet, on accuracy and inaccuracy, yet inconsistently and arbitrarily in the detail

What would make these numbers more meaningful would be knowing, of the 36% of people who identify identify as “woke” or “anti-woke,” what % can offer a coherent definition of what the term actually means?
18% of people in Britain identify as "woke"
18% of people identify as "anti-woke"
43% as neither
19% don't know what the terms mean [that was half in 2020]

When more people in Sweden can name the Democratic candidate for Mayor of New York than the Prime Minister of neighbouring Finland…maybe — just maybe — there’s a little too much coverage of US politics in Europe.

Tonight's even more proof the mainstream reporters who are still on Twitter are suffering from a brain problem akin Havana Syndrome that is preventing them from accurately doing their jobs. They are being cooked alive by a snuff-focused apartheid algorithm.

This seems like a pretty big deal lost in the Mamdani/Virginia/NJ news vortex.
Democrats were projected to score a major victory on Tuesday night by winning a pair of statewide offices in Georgia — the first time in 20 years Democrats have won in a non-federal office in that state.

Adam Ant can’t be 71 because that would mean I…oh, fuck.
Adam Ant is 71 today. Hard to emphasise how seismic this was in playgrounds across the country in 1980. For a period he was as big as any act has been. Was he the perfect pop star? I think so. It couldn't last but if you were there you'll never forget it.

In addition to the frankly unbelievable job by Shanahan and Saleh — 6-3 with a bunch of 4th stringers and Joe Montana’s dog — it’s worth remembering that the key players the #49ers were criticized for letting go in the off-season have been expensive busts (Deebo) or injured (Greenlaw).

US easy to criticize. But, with many Europeans voting for parties with neo-Nazi roots, let’s just say Europeans might want to tone down the condescension about Americans. And, European “educated liberal big city folk” are hardly famous for having their fingers on the pulse of the working classes.
The educated liberal big city US folks outraged at Trump's renovation of Lincoln bathroom really need to scroll some Facebook of their less established relatives and friends to see what kind of aesthetic resonates with Trump's target audience.

I ‘dislike’ this idea. What made pre-toxic Twitter good was precisely the blend of opinions you liked and didn’t like, and the occasional disagreements and tensions. You know…like life. Rigging the algorithm to only show you things you like will eventually kill this platform.
“As users ‘dislike’ posts, the system will learn what sort of content they want to see less of. This will help to inform more than just how content is ranked in feeds, but also reply rankings.”

Crazy 2022 poll where people in US asked to estimate % of population in different groups. My favorite result? According to these guesses, 85% of the US are either Muslim, Jewish or Native American. The TOTAL for all three is actually 4%. Oh, and a third of the country is gay/lesbian.
