April 1st is kinda a let down.
Science is dying a slow death.

The science illiteracy going into Q2 of 2025 looks like it’ll continue to be on the upswing thanks to Dr Oz, RFK jr and Calley Means.

Means' role will be focused on food policy & addressing the influence of corporations on health.
April 1, 2025 at 6:39 PM
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) are based on current food and health science & research. They are similar to a DASH dietary plan, which is highly researched.

RFK jr plans to overhaul the DGA, removing the recommendations for vegetable oils.

Bright side: Nobody follows the DGA anyhow.

I notice that people with low self esteem, or those who feel threatened by others who are different than them, and maybe smarter than they are, resort to childish name calling or bullying tactics.

Food processing helps reduce #foodwaste and address hunger. Everyone does not have access to a farmer’s market, small organic food brands, or a community garden.
Foods that Fit
I continue to read headline that demonize processed or ultra-processed foods. I've previously written about this topic, and the NOVA system that attempts to categorize foods by extent of processing. O...

I completely agree with this statement. To me, making a change in my diet needs to mean I will end up with better overall health and life span, not looking good in the mirror. By only focusing on my looks, I’m more lenient toward working out for a short period then dropping the routine.
There is no “one right way” to eat. Healthy eating is not about being perfect for a day or a few months. Your lifestyle will always be a work in progress. Consequently, making dietary changes is something you commit to for the rest of your life.

Nothing in the public eye can just occur any longer. Everything has to have a conspiracy behind it these days or nobody's interested. Truth is a game now, and the owners of the game will flip the table over if you don't play it in a way where they win. -III

I love this as it encourages a balanced approach to health by emphasizing the importance of gradually adopting habits that support both mental and physical well-being. The phrase "Ease into good habits" is motivating, making the idea of improving health feel achievable. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

We really need to focus on portions and not single foods or ingredients.
Portions - in restaurants, bakeries, grocers - are too large.
We will eat the plate.
Yet can be satisfied with less is less becomes the normalized option.
I found this interesting because instead of being wary of certain ingredients, it's crucial to focus on broad diet habits. The key factors are caution, range, & rational choices. I like that healthy eating, portion control, and whole foods are prioritized over publicity. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

The sheer speed at which people hit a like button or make one-word affirmation comments in response to posts with articles linking to misinformation or propaganda, that they neither read, or question, (ie look up one other source), is astonishing.

RDNs know exactly how to treat with diet therapy. Casey is not a guru.
