As my goal is to be a dentist in the future, I will incorporate nutrition if I notice how my patient’s teeth are being affected: eating to many acidic or sugary foods for example. I will aim to find replacements for those foods. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I love this reminder. I love walking my dog. Not only does she get exercise, but I can also feel less guilty for not having a 2-hour hard sweat workout! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
For National Exercise Day, here is a reminder: Exercise doesn’t have to mean sweat-soaked workouts. Walk your dog, stretch between meetings, or turn on your favorite song and move. It all adds up! #RealWorldNutrition

For finals, I more so AVOID certain foods, such as: any candy, unnecessary carbs, and unhealthy snacks. I always tend to feel worse when I eat unhealthy and I can’t risk that when I’m already stressed. I also make sure to include a workout on my Peloton! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This is the strongest advice there is! The key to getting where you want to be is being kind to yourself and being proud that you chose to take a step toward that direction in the first place! I try to practice this everyday myself. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Your inner critic isn’t a nutrition expert. Replace “I messed up” with “I’m learning.” Progress isn’t a straight line—and you’re not meant to be perfect. Small, kind choices matter. #RealWorldNutrition

I would share this article because not only are they medically reviewed by health experts that are ranked in best children hospitals, but also because this article successfully separates when and where kids may have issues on eating and how to tackle those specific times. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I appreciate this encouragement, but I think this can be tossed around as an excuse. Speaking from personal experience, I would have a sweet treat after a while, and then I roll down the hill. I guess it's hard to scope how to know if you deserve the reward or punishment. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
PSA: You don’t have to earn your food. It’s not a reward for being “good” or punishment for being “bad.”

I'm very happy I read Tom's story, he's truly an inspiration to me. For my future patients, I never want to make them feel embarrassed or ashamed for their diet. I will learn how to communicate with patients on that topic so that they won't avoid visits just like Tom. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Dr. Hoffer puts today's issues in simple words. So often do people say "but" instead of "and." Changing the views on this can create a huge different on how people are perceived and how they may feel. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
when you shy away from people calling themselves fat and insist “you’re not fat, you’re beautiful!”:

you’re not only continuing to stigmatize fat bodies, but you’re reinforcing the importance of outward appearance.

i’m fat and beautiful, but i’m also more than either of those characteristics.

I learned this week from the biggest loser study stating, "long-term weight loss requires vigilant combat against persistent metabolic adaptation." This changes everything for me. In order to maintain a healthy weight, I can't just do the same routine forever. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I stand by this! Growing up with an “almond mom” has affected the way girls see themselves and will for a long time, along with the repetitive “suck in your tummy!” @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
stop teaching children that only a thin body is a healthy body.

if we want to teach about health, we can focus on behaviors that promote health: finding joyful movement, having a loving relationship with food, and taking care of our mental health.

keep anti-fat bias out.

I can relate to “lack of self-regulation behaviors” all the time. For a few weeks I stay on track, feel great, then spiral back to eating sweets. It’s also more of a struggle sometimes since I tend to eat to resolve my feelings which I know can be very dangerous. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I like this image because it's a reminder to people to focus on their day-to-day rather than their overall goal. This way, people are able to put in more effort and not feel so pressured, similarly to what the article I chose represents. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I really appreciate this post. it's a reminder for me to not be so harsh on myself when I'm correcting my diet. The point is that I'm trying and that my new diet is not short term but rather a new lifestyle, and if I keep judging myself, I will never be able stick to it. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
it’s okay to eat a quick and convenient meal to stave off hunger, even if you’re not practicing “intentional nourishment” or whatever.

not every meal can or has to be a mindful experience, and expecting that it should be creates an unrealistic expectation for our relationship with food.

I researched the juice cleanse diet, looking at an article from health.cleveland.clinic.org. It showed that it can help lose water weight initially, then muscle mass, followed by reduced energy, less fiber + protein intake, and over indulgence of sugar. #notworthit #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I love panini’s, so to make them more nutrient dense, I can make it more nutrient dense by using wheat bread, less processed ham, low sodium cheese, a butter substitute and add more veggies such as tomatoes, avocado, and more too add more nutrients! 😋 @beh353.bsky.social #BEH353

I believe my recall below is 90% accurate as I found it hard to remember what I ate. I feel like I focus on getting rid of my hunger instead of nutritional value. I had a huge lack of actual meals, but in my defense, I worked 7:30am-2pm and took a nap until 6:00pm…

I completely agree with this statement. To me, making a change in my diet needs to mean I will end up with better overall health and life span, not looking good in the mirror. By only focusing on my looks, I’m more lenient toward working out for a short period then dropping the routine.
There is no “one right way” to eat. Healthy eating is not about being perfect for a day or a few months. Your lifestyle will always be a work in progress. Consequently, making dietary changes is something you commit to for the rest of your life.

A fun fact I learned this week was that honey isn’t a good replacement for sugar. I was initially suprisses to learn that, but the more I listened to the lecture, the more it made sense. There is no complete replacement for sugar, only a limit to it. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I agree with Dr. Klatt that people can be easily convinced by one post, which I have been guilty of as well. I also agree with his opinion that influencers lack the sense of responsibility when promoting unhealthy medical procedures which should be done AT HOME?? @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Also, who wld fund such a trial? What ethics board would approve it? What wld the control group get? What outcomes wld you assess that are clinically meaningful?

Its sad that folks are so easily able to profit off of selling risky magical thinking (7/9 case studies of coffee enemas report colitis).
