New post!

The Summer of the Ubume is a titanic work of Japanese mystery fiction, a horror-soaked loosening of reality wrapped up in locked rooms and impossible pregnancies.

Read my thoughts about it — and the cruel truth of all mysteries — here!

Process of creating the #gameart for The Brides. The scene is a slum dwelling from 1880’s London.

First image is the starting sketch, just basic lines with some of the darkest areas blacked out. In the final version, I added some extra blood and a distinct bloody footprint on the floor.

played a bit of the newly translated Germs Nerawareta Machi, which might take the gold for most fucked vibes on the PS1. soundscape of endless looping footsteps and car engines in a grey cityscape, only to be taken over by Chu Ishikawa-esque industrial malaise when you enter these- dungeons? bonkers

Silent Hill 2 is a classic, but i think i kind of prefer the stand-alone story and atmosphere of the very first game the best. A really wretched and evil vibe that they never hit on in that exact way ever again. The otherworld segments in SH1 are truly some of the scariest shit ever.

I wrote about the CURSE's finale, a headlong plunge into magical realism which situates the show's petty personal horrors in a larger cosmic context. Bold television, smart and uncompromising.

Chicago University's 'Nightshade 1.0' Learning Algorithm 'poison' filter is now live for public use:

Unlike 'Glaze', which only makes your art irreplicable, Nightshade actively damages any learning database it gets added to.

it sounds like this isn't streaming and the blu-ray only had a Japanese release as far as I can tell, so here is Mermaid Legend for your viewing pleasure.
